Except for the Delhomme debacle, Fox has been and is a good coach. I don't care if his conservative style isn't exciting or entertaining for the fans, he does a good job all around, and with Moore at QB he's going to take us to the playoffs next season.

I think that FOX should stay next season and he will. I thought that we could win our last four games and people laughed like hell at me we didn't get all 4 but we got 3. Now I believe that Moore should go into TC No.1 and him and Jake should battle it out. Because even though I dont believe Moore would lose he needs to be challenged if he is gonna keep the job. I don't believe anyone should lose a job to injury. But I don't believe that anyone really wants to see Fox gone at least not next yr.

I think most people on the boards here agree that Fox is a good coach. The fact that other coaches and our own players are so readily defending him shows that he has something going on that may be unmatched by others.

I wouldn't be horrified if we get a HC change, but I worry that the change will disrupt the momentum that has been developed in the past four weeks or so. I think a head coach change will mean a lot of other coaching changes, which means players have to adapt to pretty big changes. Eh, it's worrisome.

Really, the only losses that REALLY piss me off from this year were against the Bills, Saints (1st game), Dolphins, and Jets. Those were winnable damn games.

I want Moore and Fox back for next year with a new WR to help out. That isn't too much to ask for, I think.

the fact that my opinion makes not one iota of difference in the actual outcome of events makes it a little easier to choose.

if fox goes, i will be excited to see who we bring in and watch the changes evolve

if fox stays and starts matt moore, i will be excited to see how upgrades are made to the positions we're weak at

either way i'll be watching on sundays.

If he guarantees Delhomme does not start next year, I have less of a problem with him returning. My problem is that he far too often holds the team back for whatever reason, playing conservative to the extent he does will not win us a SB.

Needs to go! I don't believe he is that great of a coach! I have said it before and I'll say it again...the man has had 3 winning seasons in 8 years...if that's what it takes to be good then

He has proven to be loyal to a fault with no signs of changing and his record speaks for itself! I believe his winning % is .555?! So someone barely tipping a 500 record, with the talent we have had the last few years, is the gud huh? WOW

12 - 4 team to an 8 - 8 team?! You can blame it on injuries all you like but every team has those. He has failed to put together back to back winning season; in fact if you look at our "winning" year, all three of em, you will see he only wins when we have one of the weakest schedule in football! For instance we will probably have a winning season next year due to the fact our SOS will be in the shi**er

Don't be afraid to call a spade a spade!

Maybe I just expect too much????

He has also had only 3 losing seasons in 8 years and the first of those was a huge improvement over 1-15 and his second one he had 13 starters on IR. The hard schedule, weak schedule issue is really baloney anyway. Look at us. Teams who had us on their schedule this year had a tough schedule due to our 12-4 in 2008. But before we went on our last winning streak we were 4-7. Not exactly a tough out in 2009. Teams with us on their schedule at 8-8 will have an easier schedule in 2010 right? Next year we are likely to be better than we have been in years.

The same goes for a lot of teams.

Never said he didn't do a great job at rebuilding the team but come on, so 3 losing seasons and 2 500 season is A OK with you? I just don't see where he overall body of work makes him a "Great Coach"

And exactly what makes you think we will be better than we have been in years? The fact that we get a great first round pick? oh wait! What about the fact that we still have Jake Delhomme? Hmmmm! Oh I got it...foxball! We all know how successful that is almost every other year!

And as for the schedule thing you proved my point...with our 12 - 4 record LAST year we had a tough schedule THIS year...with an 8 - 8 record THIS year next years schedule will be theoretically easier! Thus we will probably have a winning season like almost every other year we have an "easy" schedule!

Edit:

Next year we are likely to be better than we have been in years.

Just wanted to say, I hear my Raiders fan friend say this EVER FREAKIN YEAR! Do we wanna be THAT team?

The thing that pisses me off most about Fox is that every year that we miss the playoffs we go through these midseason lulls where we lose a bunch of games are are essentially out of it with nothing to play for the last 2 weeks of the season.

His teams go out and under-perform when they have to play well in order to make the playoffs and then when there is nothing on the line they scrape and claw to get back to .500 of close to it so that we don't have a losing season.

If I'm an owner of a team and my team is playing for nothing the last couple weeks of the season then honestly I just don't care. I'm not looking for moral victories, I'm looking for Super bowls. IMO 8-8 and out of the playoffs is no better than 2-14, 5-11, 6-10, 3-13. All of those records are NON-playoff records and that is all that matters.

    • It is a tough decision.  There is another factor.  Is he in game shape?  A tired Hunt is not better than an "in-shape" Corbett.  When coming off an injury, it is natural to want to protect the injured area, even if it is completely healed.  This can cause you to contort your body for no reason, lose fundamentals, and it could lead to other injuries.  For example, I had a knee in high school that required getting taped.  That made me aware of the knee (not used to tape on my knee) and I pulled my groin (favoring or dragging the leg with the tape).  The trainer explained the groin injury the way I do here--but scared money makes no money.  If he is cleared to play, he is cleared to play.  Watch him, rotate him in for a series, etc.  Specifically, I would want to watch the matchup--who is winning more--Corbett or Hunt?  How is the defense reacting (if at all) to Hunt being in?  Etc.
    • Shannon was sued for $50 million (settled out of court, I believe) for forcing sex on his girlfriend during a two-year relationship.  He denies it, but ESPN let him go last April.  Chad Johnson's wife filed a police report because he head-butted her in a car and was put on probation. I had to google it.  I watched the Ray Rice video and when you see it, you realize just how vile and cowardly abusing a woman really is.  But for the same point Aussie tried to make, these women are defenseless, and being phyiscally bigger and stronger does not validate your actions.   I can't even stand to watch Steve Smith.  I can't normalize this kind of behavior--again, I do not think R-P had that in mind when he posted this.  When the reason was exposed, we should realize that we are talking life (quality of) and death (in some cases) here.
    • I can respect the fact that we should not glorify or normalize men who have a history of beating women.  I do not think anyone was thinking of that when they posted this, but if head-butting your wife and unconsensual sex (rape) is something you cannot overlook, I agree with that.  I think they are both half-crazed attention hounds regardless of their pasts.
