Consider This: Smitty, Jarrett, Shipley

Recommended Posts

Shipley could be had in the 2nd round and I seriously doubt since his performance in the National Championship game he falls to the 3rd round.

If Jarrett can duplicate his last game in a whole season. He could take Moose's spot. I think with his size he could be as good if not better than Moose. The fear is, his last game was a one hit wonder. If not, Moose still has one season left in him.

What Shipley could do for this team. A Slot receiver is that runs great routes. That would cause all sorts of troubles with a defensive back field.

With our running game play action pass would really create some problems for most teams.

Add Barnidge running the seam. How in the world would any defense be able to focus strictly on the running game.

IMO SHIPLEY should be our First pick. NO DOUBT.

I don't know why anyone would dismiss Shipley out of hand. I think Shipley is going to be a solid receiver in the NFL. He seems like a smart kid that runs great routes. Now whether we'd want to take a chance on him when we need help at other positions, I don't know.

I think that a lot of teams may kick themselves if they don't pick him up, but the second round...?

I admit I don't watch much College Ball. I did watch some of Texas Vs. Alabama though and Shipley looked pretty decent. I'll have to start reading up on prospects soon.

You and me both, the offseason has come which means my time to become obsessed with the 2010 NFL draft class is also upon me.

we still need a burner. smitty ain't got it anymore....at least not for long.

I won't bring in a rookie and say that to his face. :D

I do agree that we need to start grooming some speed to replace Smitty one day but 2010 isn't the year. I think we need to look for someone who can come in and compliment him. Shipley is the only polished receiver I have seen (though that isn't much) coming out of college who IMO could start in the slot.

Obviously you will wait until Moose is in a walker before you will move on.

I think with a QB that has some confidence in Jarrett and a slot guy like Shipley our passing game will be enough for the running game to flourish.

i conquer. moose may have another good year left in him, but i think it's time to give jarrett a chance. with moore pitchin' the ball around, jarrett, smith and shipley would be one hell of a receiving corps.

    • This won't be a trap game for them. I worry more for the next time we face Atlanta. That's a death trap game if we aren't careful.
    • Luckily, we've got more games ahead to watch and see what happens. Maybe he keeps growing his game, maybe we see that he's topped out when we hit stiffer competition. Or maybe he flames out against a team he should well be able to beat like the Jets this weekend. I really can't tell where all of this will end. I can say, though, there's no reason to hit the kid at the moment. Let him roll for as long as he can.  Heck, Sam Darnold is setting the league on fire right now, along with Baker Mayfield and Daniel Jones. Examples of guys mired in bad coaching on bad teams (sometimes our own) that hit their stride just as a team did. Maybe we're about to get lucky.  I do know one thing. The biggest change in a winning Bryce and a losing Bryce is that when he plays fearlessly, he is a hell of a competitor. When he gets scared, and he has so many times, it all just falls apart for him and no team can save him. Bravery makes the difference and it comes from believing in not just himself, but his line, his receivers, his running back and the play calling. Just like most young QBs. And quite a few of the old ones. Rodgers couldn't make it in the chaos of the Jets situation. He can in Pittsburgh, so it seems.
    • That’s what I thought too. Maybe I interpreted it wrong. I was considering maybe taking a last minute trip but I think I’ll pass
