Matt Moore = 1st Rd Qualifying Offer

I have a feeling that Matt could be a hotter commodity than we thought.

Matt came in and had a December comparable to that of Peyton Manning. If a team wants a RFA QB they could throw a 1st round draft pick our way for Moore.

Since Matt Moore is a RFA i suggest we set his minimum at a 1st Round Qualifying Offer. Moore in my opinion is better than any QB coming out of this draft, or coming into the FA Market.

I haven't seen the numbers for 2010 Qualifying offers yet, but for 2009 they were around:

Minimum Offer - $1.1 million

2nd round pick offer - $1.545 million

1st round pick offer - around $2.1 million

1st and 3rd round picks offer - around $2.7 million

If Moore is better than any quarterback in the draft, why would we want to get rid of him for a first (which we would then use to take one of these lesser quarterbacks)?

Or are you suggesting we try to get the first and third for him?

This - 1st rounders are not the end all of end all's that people seem to think...

Look the guy came in and he performed well, but how can everyone be so sold on him after 5 games? He put up some good numbers and I think he deserves a shot next year in training camp. Think back on Derek Anderson... had a pro bowl year a couple years ago, and now look he didnt turn out to be the QB they thought he was. And Peyton Mannings numbers in December? Peyton didnt see alot of playing time remember? Colts benched their starters, Moore and Manning? Come on if you could choose who would you really want?

Not sure of your point here, but I definitely think we should keep Moore instead of letting him go for a first round pick. He has as much potential as any QB we might draft. In fact, given our record of drafting QB's, he has more potential.

How many NFL games have Colt McCoy or any of the other more highly-touted quarterbacks entering the draft won?

In my opinion, Moore is a much better option than any free agent available this year. Whether or not he's better than some of the quarterbacks in the draft remains to be seen, but he's certainly done as well as could be expected in his few games starting.

If a rookie came in and played as Moore has this year, we would all be convinced that we had found our franchise quarterback for years to come.

If you get rid of Moore for a pick you are most likley assuring Jake the starting position next season. Are we willing to sacrifice another season for an unknown factor? I for one am not.

I could see Carolina letting someone snag Moore.....Fox doesn't like Moore and you know Fox isn't going to want to face that next season. Fox will want Jake to start and draft or sign a future replacement..........I simply don't see a scenario where Fox puts anyone ahead of Jake on a depth chart.

I'm never sold on any QB coming out of the draft, too many never live up to their expectations so I'm not sayting to get a quarterback out the draft, and I agree he put up good numbers I said that but his stats were being compared to that of Peyton Manning? Seriously? Having said that, like I mentioned earlier I said hes earned the right to compete in camp for the starting job, but after on 5 games I dont know how everyones sayin he is worth a first round and is so sold on him, I think he still should have to prove himself more than what he has. Look at Brady Quinn he came in and he was performing well towards the end of last year but Browns are probably going to deal him and Anderson away.

Jake only played one game in 2003 before people were sold on him.

If so, then we will be looking at a season much worse than this one. I don't see Jake shaking whatever he's got in his head to be the QB he once was. If Fox can't put the team over his own intuition of what he thinks a QB should be then he's exactly the coach I thought he was. ONE THAT BELONGS SOMEWHERE ELSE!

    • They traded away their 1st next year also to get James Pearce Jr. Really hope this blows up in the Falcons face. I don't care how it happens, I just want to win the division this year. Zero sympathy for other team's issues. And our pass rush looks like it needs all the help it can get.
    • I would have released him this season, tbh and worked with Christensen out there.
    • 10/10. We're due for some good luck, and I think this team is much better than what we've had the last 2 seasons. Defensive injuries could derail us b/c our depth there is still questionable. Still worried about the pass rush getting pressure without blitzing. Pleasantly surprised by the secondary and run defense.  Dan Morgan has done a lot to resurrect this roster from the deplorable position Fitterer left it in by showing some scouting chops with hitting on these guys drafted in the later rounds or UDFAs. Lathan Ransom & Corey Thornton both look like they fit this scheme and the NFL isn't too big for them.  I'm as excited for the rookie trifecta of T-Mac, Scourton, and Princely as I can remember. On paper, this offense is the most talented since 2021, maybe 2017, and maybe 2015. None of that means this team will produce any better, but this team has offensive talent & depth like we have rarely had in team history. If you don't believe me, go Google it. We've had some awful offensive collections overall in many years, to varying degrees mitigated by superstar talents like Steve Smith, Christian Mccaffrey, or Cam Newton.  I honestly think the collective offensive talent in 2025 may be better, but Cam was so otherworldly in 2015 & 2017 that he covered any flaws. Seriously, though, Cam doesnt get enough love for 2017. I think that may have been his best season. In general, Cam doesn't get enough respect IMHO. Both in college and in the NFL, Cam took teams that without him would have had no chance and won. True definition of a guy who elevated his team. To be clear, I am in no way am I saying this team will be better than 2017 or 2015. My point is that the offensive talent is there on offense if Bryce can unlock it.  I've been a Bryce supporter, but there are no excuses not to perform with this group. This isn't the disaster we gave him in 2023 or a new scheme like in 2024 where I think he hadn't mentally removed from his rookie season to start. I dont know how you couldnt be excited about that. And we still compete in a division that isn't insurmountable. I got got in 2023 like most of us in buying into the team propaganda, but in general, I think I'm pretty realistic about the team. I knew in my heart we would be bad last year. I wasnt expecting the defense to be that bad or Bryce to start off that poorly, but I had no expectations whatsoever for making the playoffs. And I genuinely think we will be competitive all year this season. I think we win 8-9 games and compete for the division. I think the ceiling is 11 wins, and the floor is 7. The good news is after next week, we will all be proven right or proven wrong. Keep Pounding!
