Gary Barnidge...

I keep forgetting to make this topic

in king and rosarios first years, they began to start making plays and becoming involved in the offense around the end of their seasons

now the difference in now is that barnidge has alot stiffer competition for plays on the field, and he may not be needed, I'd just like to know how he's progressing, maybe I'll send gantt an email during the bye week

I remember the scouting report had him with the potential to be a better reciever than king or rosario

I wonder if he is buried on the depth chart because of the guys in front of him, or it it is taking him longer to pick up the blocking or to becoming physically strong enough to make his blocks, espcially with the running game we have right now

I remember one pass thrown to him deep where he had the LB beat by 3-4 steps, and i think I've seen his jersey flash by on a rare occasion, but otherwise I have nothing

Barnidge sure has speed

My only fear is him going somewhere else and he does a very decent job. Or be a surprise. We all know that always happen to the Panthers

come on were 12-4 and somebody just broke our awful record, maybe this is the season we shake off the bad vibes, woohoo!!!!

we will always draft well and sign well from now on

future longsnapper, i think he did it in college, he may be the project to replace kyle. add in he could turn into a good te, and i think he sticks, and it was a warrented pick. still want chase coffman, but not happening now. also king only got in the last 1 falcon's game really, and that was when we had poo for te, not surprised he didnt crack the starting lineup. if he improves and becomes a better blocker than dante, he will jump him. fox loves to use the te to block.

He is just a rookie and the being a TE in collage and one in the NFL is a big step. He is playing ST and thats the first step in being a starter. King is the best a both blocking and receiving right now and thats why we see him so much but I will go out on a limb and say Barnidge will move ahead of Rosario because of his blocking next year sometime cause Rosario is horrible at it.

For the most part, Barnidge has done a solid job blocking all year. The reason he's not getting much burn on offense is that he has two solid guys in front of him. So, unless one of the other guys got injured or just stunk it up during the season (which neither did), Barnidge was never going to get on the field much on offense. He's going to have to earn it in TC and the pre-season next year (his injury in this year's camp hurt his chances as well).

With that said, theire is potential for him next year. While both King and Rosario are solid, neither are great, so with a strong off-season, it is possible Barnidge could leapfrog one or both. Will he? Who knows, but at this point it is far too premature to make any kind of realistic judgement on him.

Oh, and as for the statement of him long snapping, sure it's possible. However, despite him being listed as one pre-draft, he wasn't really a long snapper in college. He never even did it in a real game, he was just the backup/emergency LS.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
