A comparison 08-09 with DeAngelo and AP...

Lol I didn't know the same guy made that thread too. It's obvious Williams/Stewart are set for success why can't we just wait for them to do it. They're already looking to be the most prolific duo in leauge history if they stick together. I mean if they can keep this up for 7-8 more years that'd be pretty special.

At the time I posted the previous thread, it was with a number of weeks to go in the season. DeAngelo had not officially finished the season with a 5.0 yards per carry average.

To be sure injuries kept him at that 5.2 average. Could he have raised it? Of course. However, with a few bad games could he have dropped below 5.0? Perhaps.

However, I mentioned it again because he did finish the year 5.0 above. So next year, according to the best research I have done, but not conclusive it APPEARS that if averages 5.0 yards a carry for one more year, he will be the only running back in history to have done such. At least among the great backs who have carried a number of times.

However he now has three 5.0 seasons in a row with five yards a carry. Chris Johnson could tie that with two more.

But this is a great record for him to shoot for next year.

the point is, you are still claiming he and brown are the only ones to do it even after being corrected the first time.

there's no doubt about it, deangelo williams is a good RB.

is he the best in the league? eh...that's a matter of opinion. he is one of the best.

is he a hof'er? it's way too early too tell.

he's definitely not the greatest thing to strap on cleats and carry a football like some people want to convince everyone he is.

DeAngelo Williams > Adrian Peterson for the start of the 2010 season.

That playoff game validated my personal opinion. The way Charles Taylor was running makes you wonder if the Vikes are using their RB's to their full advantage? Seems like they have a similar duo but don't take full advantage of it. Ego's may be the reason the Vikings aren't in the Super Bowl. Think about it.

DeAngelo can't catch a football to save his life. He starts to catch footballs then I will think about him being in contention with Chris Johnson aka The Titans Whole Team

Where did you get that from? He dropped that one TD pass in New Orleans, but that's the only one I can remember, and that would have been a tough catch too because that ball had some smoke on it for a short pass.

I agree your comparison and analysis on Chester Taylor. The Vikings need to use Taylor like they did Peterson's rookie year. He got around 50 less carries since then. He is still a good runner.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
