Orlov-Skjei have the 5th most ice time of any pairing combo this season. Brady skates his off side (on the right) when they are on the ice together.

I really don’t get what Rod/Tim are doing I somewhat get it with Pesce back now but from before. Every time they pair Orlov and Skjei for a game orlov made progress and looked a lot more settled. Then they would immediately go back to orlov and TDA. Even though it’s obviously our weakest pairing. Then we lose, then they would go back to Orlov Skjei… makes no sense to me.

But the stats don't explain how 2 lefties are on the ice together when they typically don't play their off side. 11 of the first 15 games of the season on the road and not having last change greatly effects who is on the ice at any given stoppage.

I would venture to say that despite the ice time they've enjoyed together thus far, it's not been intentional. Especially given the fact Skjei has absolutely zero career history of playing his off side.

It doesn't make sense because Skjei, as I've said before, has no career history of playing on his off side. Although I'm sure he has done so, as evidenced by the Orlov experiment, how much of his offensive game is lost on his off side? Look at the Pesce - Skjei pairing. Skjei is the guy who will jump up long before Pesce will. And I would hazard a guess that watching back any of the games when Orlov and Skjei were on the ice together that Skjei stayed back and rarely, if ever, had a shot on goal from the right side.

Hindsight being what it is…those two should have never been signed here.

It's still a bit early to give up on Demi compltely...

We know dude can play, just gotta figure out how/if he fits in our system.

Tony can fly his ass to the moon for all I care at this point...

Ya I haven’t given up on Orlov… he shows flashes when he’s not partnered with TDA. I feel like Donny Wads kinda fuged up with the TDA trade, not trade, signing.

Canes shake up defense

"It seems that Rod Brind'Amour has once again reached his limit with his defense's lapses."

"For the remainder of the game, Dmitry Orlov ended up paired with Brett Pesce and Brady Skjei was with Tony DeAngelo, but Skjei and Pesce still wound up back together more often that not for key moments."

"During the morning practice, it appeared that Jalen Chatfield had swapped back in on the third pair alongside Orlov, with DeAngelo rotating in as a healthy extra."

    • yeah, but the actual jersey Bryce Young is wearing is not the same jersey you are buying from Fanatics.
    • i just feel like i read this he says she says poo all the time over & over again  on the internet  TV  work ,in public & then i think back to myself oh what a sick slandermongering world we live in now. ts just like those National Enquirer magazines you find in the grocery store at the checkout counter which are nothing more than complete & utter BS  & more often than not when you assume something then you make an ASS out of U & ME. so chill &  let the courts do their job & if he is guilty well he is guilty  LOL either or this has nothing at all whatsoever to do with Carolina Panthers football
    • Former league executive and current NFL.com analyst Marc Ross recently named his top second-year breakout candidates for the upcoming campaign. Ross includes Legette, who may be helped out by his team's latest first-round selection. He writes: Legette had a slow start to his NFL career, catching 49 passes for 497 yards and four touchdowns last season. Some of the struggles can be tied to his own growing pains -- he had eight drops on 81 targets, according to Pro Football Focus -- but he had also had to navigate the quarterback shuffle between Bryce Young and Andy Dalton early in Dave Canales' first season leading the Panthers. Canales recently said he believes Carolina has a DK Metcalf-like talent in Legette, who had foot surgery this offseason but was cleared to resume work in early April, and that having a full offseason alongside Young, who took a significant step forward in 2024, could lead to a breakout result in 2025. I anticipate it will also help that Carolina invested another first-round pick in a wide receiver, Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan, to complement Legette in the pass game. McMillan's presence, however, could take some pressure off Legette—who may be able to roam around in a more natural playmaking role. With the 6-foot-4 All-American likely to take on the bulk of the volume from Young, Legette should have some cleaner shots to break out downfield and in the box score.     https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/06/panthers-wr-xaiver-legette-top-breakout-candidates-2025/83475176007/?taid=681a4610ede05d000149b376&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter
