To be fair I was talking about, specifically, free agents. We are missing picks to offer up more picks for a great WR. So we have to go the FA route. And most top end WRs DONT hit the free agent market.

He then asked you after your comment who hit the free agent market and you listed OBJ who is perpetually injured, Hopkins who is 22nd in receiving yards as of now and Meyer who is 33 in receiving yards. Higgins is younger and more productive than both of the last few seasons. He’s going to get a nice contract.

And when they do they choose to not come here. You listed a bunch of guys that for the most part never hit the open market to allow for a bid war. Again, there are like 10 teams with more cap space than us that could use him and every single one of those teams looks more complete than us and has a better record than us and has more first round draft picks than us this upcoming draft.

The appeal here would have to be a massive overpay at the risk that his head coach is going to get fired, his OC is going to get fired, and the guy throwing him the ball might be a bust. You’d have to offer a contract that takes care of him for longer than need be, for more money than need be to lure him from those other teams.

And we still have to sign Burns and extend Brown. Eating into the cap.

Going thru this article..

1. The list was posted by Josh Norris

He is pretty tapped in so if he thinks these players could reach FA..

So I put out a opinion thread based off a football analyst thoughts..

2. It not like any of these guys are Hill, Adams level.. So if we had to trade for them.. A 2nd at the most maybe all we need.. And Higgins or Evans is a better more proven option then anybody we can draft in the 2nd round this year..

3. He asked a question and I answered it..

When OBJ and Landry  signed with the Browns to help Baker they were both top 25 Wr’s and that was 2019 (4 years ago)…

Hopkins here now would be a our number 1 right now.. He has played with how many Bad Qb’s this year and you want to make a number statement???  Meyers right now would be a godsend over the crap we have now..

4. At no point in this thread did I say anything else but we will have to overpay for talent.. So you’re not solving any mysteries.. The point is that might be the only option..

No 1st round pick so no 1st round talented Wr’s. Don’t trust this staff in finding WR talent in the draft anyway. Soooooooooooo what exactly is the plan other then to spend in FA and get your Young QB help???

Landry and obj didn’t sign with the browns they were traded.  You clearly don’t understand what you are talking about here.

You clearly have a axed to grind because of some precived (by you) internet stranger beef.. You want to nit pick a opinion thread by fixating on semantics.. When the thread was about players that “could ”be available.. No matter if it’s a trade or a signing.. The whole point is these players could be available..  I didn’t make the list or have the power to make these players available.. Josh Norris said they could and I posted a question (with the caveat of they could be available) so you nit picking based on “Signing them in FA” doesn’t matter.. That wasn’t a set in stone precedent to get one of these players.. At some point you should recognize you’re being petty for no reason at all..

And derailing conversation based on some internet big cookie award and strangers adulation you think is important… You are literally following my post activities to quote and reply because I disagreed with one of your many dumb opinions..  Do you have me on notifications so every time I post you can run and quote me?? I go weeks without posting here and every time I do here you come.. It stop being a coincidence 3 months ago..

The thread title created by you clearly says Offseason FA! and then you proceed to go on some random tangent about players that are not indeed free agents.  But you be you buddy.  You clearly dont know what a nfl free agent is and its not even close to semantics.  Its simple understanding of what a true free agent is.

So the fug what!!
“OmG the thread title says this so i have to stick to the letter of the law MB forum rule of not using actual cognitive thinking and form a opinion..”

And Offseason is in the title as well .. Since we’re playing this dumbass game .. Can you make trades in the offseason as well??

But I’m sorry my bad.. I didn’t know thread title dictated all perimeter in threads now.. lol

Yes but I think LG is good if we move Ickey there but then we need a LT.

That could potentially be Christensen but my guess is they'd look elsewhere first.

One big advantage for him is he actually does do well at zone blocking.

I think the top priority has to be fixing the o-line. Start in the trenches and work your way outward. If we can't afford to fix the o-line and bring in a #1 WR, then you fix the o-line first. If you bring in a #WR it won't matter due to the amount of pressure and sacks Young is enduring.

2024 address the trenches. Extra money or picks? Go get a better WR than D.J Chark.

He does this to everyone he doesn't like.

Some people need real life help. I wouldn't take this message board seriously. Some people just come here to vent off on others.

    • Give me Mitchell Evans over T Sanders in this run heavy offense any day of the week.
    • What's up gents, the OGs remember me, the guy who single-handedly gave the Panthers the greatest uniform in history moniker. Not too long after that I got involved with Pro Football Focus (pre-Collinsworth acquisition) and ended up taking backseat here to preserve some objectivity. But from a distance I noticed a lot. After the end of the Cam era this place devolved into the most un-fun, petty, negative cesspool of whining and bitching that has ever graced the internet. The worst part of it all is that the level of discussion turned into the most ill-informed, hot-take, unnuanced crap, rife with people talking out of their posteriors as if they have any clue about what they are watching. Once you get into the professional side of the sport and actual film rooms, you start to understand there's an absurd number of moving parts to pretty much every snap and the details you are privy to are truly only half the picture. The absolute most important thing I learned from being part of professional level football analysis is that quarterbacking is literally the most intricate and difficult position in all of professional sports, and that the NFL itself is struggling to develop any workable model that allows them to understand what makes one succeed vs what makes one fail. Because of this paradox it has also made the quarterback position itself grossly overvalued from a fan and media standpoint, creating an absurd fixation on the results delivered by a single player who has to rely on the contributions of everyone around them. This also drives the dreaded inflation of QB salaries that inevitably cause even elite teams to lose key talent all to pour cash into the one player supposed to be able to single-handedly elevate the entire team (and defense and special teams and coaching and ownership by some mysterious proxy), yet without those same players even talented teams can wander the wilderness searching for the right guy to take advantage of their talent window. The discussions the last few years around Bryce has personified this insanity, as this board has devolved into some sort of electronic civil war between the hyperbolic Young supporters and the vitriolic Bryce haters. The reality, like practically everything in this world, is somewhere in the middle. He has traits that can absolutely elevate a team with creativity, play recognition, off-arm angle throws, mental toughness, etc. He's also physically limited, with mostly "good-enough" qualities for most situations that a professional quarterback is asked to do, and will never be an overpowering physical force like pre-injury Cam. But "good-enough" physicality represents a large majority of championship-winning quarterbacks, even in the modern era. There's a reason the corpse of Peyton Manning took the chip from elite physical specimen Cam, because the team surrounding him was talented enough to get him there, while we all know Cam was the driving force of that 2015 team. That's no knock on him, that's just how the game of football tends to work: the more complete team usually wins. The summary is this: if this team lives or dies solely on the performance of its quarterback, then it is absolutely a paper tiger even if he plays brilliantly week in and out. There are no superheroes in this sport, there are only conduits that proxy the collective efforts of much of the team around them. And no one alive can tell you how the position is played perfectly, it's all a confluence of circumstance and what unique collection of traits each player brings to the position, which can never be truly recreated season after season, even for the same player on the same team. If this place remains a raging hellscape of idiotic hot takes I will happily remove myself again and do something more productive for yet another decade, but maybe's there hope that we can all get back to the old adage, and keep pounding.
