Tepper will be woke

You just hit on something that I have been… amused isn’t the right word… but amused by.

Tepper spent a year learning the business and a Year learning the football side. Now he *knows* how it works.

1 year.

And he learned the football side from......Marty Hurney.

Never forget that.

It fits in with the stories about how he's calling "too many people" for advice.

For some, that might seem to indicate a lack of confidence, but that's not how I approach it. Just the opposite, in fact...

I think Tepper believes that he mostly either knows what he's doing or can at least figure it out. He just needs a little advice here and there.

Thus, rather than fully turn things over to someone else, he just asks a few questions to clarify his viewpoint and then moves on with what he feels like he knows to do.

And like you said, truly dumb people tend not to know their dumb.

But even worse, they often think they're smart.

The mistake regular folks make is assuming that intellect and being wildly successful are bedfellows.

I can tell an anecdote of a multimillion dollar company I had dealings with which the owner was barely literate. I mean that sincerely. He had been raised in Alabama, never made it to high school, and his "room" was the house porch for most of his childhood. But, he had built a very successful business.

I had quite a few face to face interactions and although he thought he knew everything, he had the IQ of mildly handicapped chimp. But.....he was successful.

It's the difference between intelligence and skill sets.

Mentioned similar examples before: doctors who can't balance their checkbooks, lawyers who don't even know how to turn on a computer, English teachers who suck at math, and the list goes on.

One of Jerry Richardson's biggest foibles was this exact thing, the belief that intelligence and skill in one area meant you could be equally good in another, like a really good PR guy knowing how to evaluate personnel.

It just doesn't work that way.

We can all talk about people that would be successful at GM here under sane leadership, but they will never come here, nor will they ever get hired.

GM here is nothing but a puppet doing the will of the Teppers. He’s a complete patsy, in place to take the arrows from disgruntled fans while signing off on moves the boss wants to make. In Dave’s universe, Fitt is perfect for the job.

Fitt knows that after Carolina his career is done so he’s not quitting any time soon and will ride this thing out as long as he can.

Anyone coach wise who has shown any sort of alpha characteristics and gone against Tepper has been shown the door. As good a job as Evero has done, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tepper is intimidated by him as well. He didn’t even get considered for the job? Hmm, sounds like Wilks 2.0 in the making to me, as another person posted in another thread. Tabor has at least been successful, so we will see how this goes.

If he has any sort of desire to be successful:

1. Leave Fitt (because the next GM is going to be even worse), Tabor, Brown and Evero in place for next season.
2. ship Ickey, Horn and #0 for 1st round picks who actually show they want to play.
3. Start the search for an actual NFL qb the locker room will believe in.
4. get some ‘naw, F dat’ type DUDES back on this team. Guys who will make a damn play.

Couple of those you'd be very unlikely to get...

Peters is heir apparent to the 49ers job. Dodds already interviewed here and pulled himself out of the search. Ian Cunningham and Brandt Tillis also interviewed for jobs here previously.

Kirchner is a longtime friend of Scott Fitterer (so is Morgan). Not sure how they'd view the job. Ryan Grigson was dog sh-t as Colts GM and might also be friends with Frank Reich.

One name scares me a little bit for other reasons, Catherine Raiche. It's not that she scares me because she's female, but I don't really know that much about her career. My fear is if she gets a look here, It won't necessarily be because she's the best candidate but rather because Tepper would want to make a big splashy headline again by hiring the first female GM in the NFL.

That's all well and good if she's truly great at her job. If it's for the sake of headlines, not so much. I don't know enough about her to say for sure...

...but I know plenty about Tepper, and what I know isn't good 😕

Just because Kirchner and Morgan has worked with Fit doesn’t mean they would be like him as GM. Just because some of the guys I’ve mentioned has interviewed before doesn’t mean they wouldn’t get the nod or wouldn’t accept the position as GM. Some of those named is bringing them in as possible assistant GM’s. These are my opinions!

Not saying any of it is absolute...with the exception of Peters. I don't think there's a chance in hell of getting him away from the Niners. Wouldn't put much stock in getting Ed Dodds from the Colts either.

They are things to be aware of,  though

    • Outdoor Mosquito Zappers Outdoor mosquito zappers are built to withstand the elements and cover larger areas. They are commonly used in gardens, patios, and other outdoor spaces to provide continuous mosquito control. Some common types include: Freestanding Zappers: These units are designed to stand on the ground or be mounted on a pole. They are often more powerful than indoor models and can cover a wider area. Hanging Zappers: These zappers can be hung from trees, porches, or other structures. They are effective at attracting mosquitoes from all directions and are often used in combination with other pest control methods.
