Top five favorites for next year

I'll say this much. I wouldn't want to be the week one opponent of the Colts next season. You could safely bet that Manning will still be pissed off.

Honestly, to me Reggie Wayne is an Alvin Harper, i.e. a number two receiver serving as a number one. I think they need a true number one, and while I think Anthony Gonzalez is good, I don't think he fits that mold either.

They also need a consistent run game...The only downside to having Manning is the amount they pay him takes away from other parts

The old Barry Sanders dilemma.

They've built an O-line that's primarily made up of pass blockers, which makes sense with Peyton back there. Still, regardless of how great the Qb is, if you're one-sided, eventually it can come back to bite you.

yeah..Thats why I always felt the saints would pull it out..I know Peytons a great QB but his salary and pass blocking Oline and no run game.will kill you every time.

Indy and SD are both running into problems in the post season because of the inability to grind it out between the tackles.

Both teams can throw the rock all over the field, but they ranked 31 and 32 in the NFL in rushing. That poo comes back to haunt you in the playoffs, hence Indys' and SD's early bow outs each year...for the most part.

SD couldn't win a playoff game when they could run either. Of course their ground game needs some improvement, and they should be looking at some of the backs that are going to be there when they make their first round selection

indys biggest problem is their undersized defensive line. Freeney is the only guy there whose talent offsets the size disadvantage he has so his starting is justified

I just take entertainment value from the fact that Dallas in ONCE AGAN listed as one of the favorites. Makes it even sweeter when they screw the pooch and blow it again.

Well, they won 13 games three years ago and 12 last year, didn't they? They got the December monkey off their back this year. I think they are dangerous, especially since they host the Super Bowl.

You do realize that this is the first year they have been 1 and done since 04 right?

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
