If it means anything to your theory, I think it would be absolutely stupid to trade Smith for Rivers, as that would be taking his (Rivers) number one target away.

Sure, you could sign someone else, but no one on the board has come up with any viable, legitimate #2 threats, much less someone for #1 that's actually realistic and possible.

As for Williams; I would be more inclined to give them Stewart. Both backs are needed for one of them to succeed, but why would you trade your known star when his replacement might be troubled with injuries?

Williams is a machine and I love the guy on and off the field but I might would do Williams for Rivers. Running backs are 'dime a dozen.

Yes for both. QB's last longer than RB's and Smith isn't getting any younger. Receivers are easier to get than QB's. Rivers is a guy you can build stuff around.

Good fun question... I didnt vote but a trade for a QB like rivers would be very appealing. I guess if I had to choose I would trade Williams because we have Stewart.

I would never deal DWill for Rivers if I had to trade someone it would be smith, but then what would be the point bc we would have no WRs for Rivers to throw to. So my answer is neither.

On a personal level I'd not trade either of my favorite two football players for anything.

However, were this my business I'd have to seriously consider the offer of Rivers for Williams.

Bringing him here without Smith would be a waste though.

Smith for Rivers is a "Gift of the Magi" trade (i.e. the loss of what you give up offsets the benefit of what you gain) so no, I wouldn't do that.

Williams for Rivers? If not for Moore's last five games, I'd think about it, but in the end I probably still wouldn't do it. Too close to another "trade off" result.

From the flip side, I seriously doubt San Diego would do either deal. An older receiver for a young QB? Not a good trade. And why give up Rivers for Williams when you already have Tomlinson and Sproles?

Because they're going to release LT and Sproles isn't an every down back.
