How to replace Julius Peppers if he was to leave

1. use 2nd rd pick on a big DE.

2.use 2nd and a later rd pick as well on big DE.

2. we have Everett Brown draft wr in rd 2

Using the rd 2 pick on a big DE would be on a player like Corey Wootton DE Northwestern / Jason Pierre-Paul DE South Florida / Greg Hardy DE Mississippi / Austen Lane DE Murray State / Alex Carrington DE Arkansas State ( you can specify which one you prefer in a post or provide an alternative selection) this would keep Everett Brown as the primary backup unless he can beat out the rookie draft pick but would be replacing Peppers with a big player.

the next option is a 2nd and a late rd pick would indicate that Everett Brown does not seem to be the future, along with the above players for the rd 2 pick later rd guys could be C.J. Wilson DE East Carolina / Clifton Geathers DE South Carolina /

option 3 indicates Everett Brown can step in and be the starter and we can address aDE in the later rds for depth only

I am very thankful for what Julius has done for the Panthers in his 8 years here, he's been the face of our defense for a long time but we can't pay 1 player $20 million. I think we have to start Everette Brown and Charles Johnson and re-sign Tyler Brayton. We will probably draft another DE in the 3rd round to play behind Brown but we have to use our 2nd round pick to draft a WR. I will hate watching Julius in another uniform but we have too many good players to give 1 player that much money. DeAngelo, Beason, Thomas Davis, Ryan Kalil and Matt Moore all deserve more money IMO.

Definitely do not draft a DE with 2nd round unless someone just incredible is left. We NEED a freaking WR. A young one that can learn from Smitty and help him out.

I think we have decent depth at DE right now. Plug in Brown/Johnson, try and get a veteran DE in free agency if possible and roll the dice. Having two very young DE's doesn't seem like a good plan for next year.

My only thinking about drafting a DE is that if we go (and STAY) with Moore, it might become a "rebuilding" year anyway....ugh. At that point, drafting a training a young DE might not be bad.

I thought we used our 2010 first round pick on a DE already? When you use a first round pick on someone, that person should be a starter by at least their 2nd season. Since we seem to have an opening with Peppers leaving, I think I see a spot for our 1st round pick.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
