So panthers suffer because of Richardon?

Glad to know his owner buddies and NFL buddies are more important to him than the PSL owners and diehard fans who buy his overpriced beers.

Winning a f**king superbowl should be priority #1 here and it's becoming obvious to me it isn't.

couldn't agree more.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Jerry Richardson's loyalty isn't with the Carolina Panthers, it's with the National Football League. If forced to choose, he'd flip the team a figurative middle finger and go slurp the NFL shield.

He's a cheap ass old man.

Wow, you guys bitch and moan when players get paid stupid money they dont deserve which in the end fugs us up and when a owner refuses to finally pay these assholes you act like our owner is the biggest dick in the world.I don't get it? Someone explain please. Albert Haynesworth's and J Peppers in the world will end up ruining this league....

SMF Jerry is not a cheap ass old man look at our spending each season and our cap.

Some of you have no idea WTF you're talking about.

His heart issue ruined him as an owner. I've seen it before. An old man undergoes a major operation and is never the same person again.

You can talk about how he used to spend until you're blue in the face, fact is that he radically changed in February of last year when he had the operation. Ever since then, it's been nothing but cheap and stupid decisions coming out of the Panther front office.

im so happy our owner is has such morals and is more concerned about the other 31 teams staying competetive then his own team

absolutly ridiculous that were are going to let peppers walk away because our owner is this stubborn. say whatever you want about the yankees, but you are correct they would not let this happen ever. there is also a reason why they have the most championships in sports history. way to go jerry were all real proud of how morally strong you are, and here is to 15 more years without a super bowl. because when mr. richardson sits on his hands and plays by the "rules", teams like the cowboys, redskins, giants, and jets are going to take full advantage.

I root for the team, not for a player...and it's got to the point that one player (not even the best player) is requiring too much of the pie. You have to make tough decisions in order to move forward and this is one of them. It's not like Peppers is going to win us a Superbowl. There's really only one position that you can make an argument like that for.

please tell me how julius peppers is not our best player. we lose steve smith and we a re still a run first team. the last two years the panthers are 3-0 without steve smith in the lineup. if deangelo goes down we have stewart and if stewart goes down we have deangelo. julius peppers is single handedly our d-line. without him our entire defense is that much worse. without him being double teamed that does not allow brayton, johnson, brown, lewis, or anyone get pressure. when the team does not get pressure our pass defense gets exposed because the qb has so much time to throw.

please, to get a clue on how good mr. peppers is please read the article that was in the observer. it takes quotes from all the saints players and dwight freeney, and all they do is rave about how great he truly is. the expectations put on peppers here is unfair and that is the only reason he is gets bashed as much as he does.

Exactly what I said in another thread. People are not getting it, Peppers is demanding way to much money for this team to spend and there are still areas that we need to work on. One player does not make a team folks and it's stupid that fans are bitching over this. GET OVER IT! Peppers is leaving, face the facts and move on.

Again, unless you are a GM, Coach or an owner, I think it is clear that no one has any right to call Fox, Hurney, or Richardson a complete idiot based on this decision

    • He’s kind of overrated to be honest. Never really felt like a true #1 or elevated his play to become a guy the defense really has to worry about.
    • I'm going to be real, the reason that vote ended up so lop-sided by the end was directly due to my programming. So there's nothing tongue in cheek about it. Also I left PFF after the Collinsworth acquisition (didn't want to move to Cincy) but have stayed involved in analytics via backdoor channels, but I can absolutely say that the experience was eye-opening, not because those guys are unquestionable football savants and that I became one by proxy, but because the amount of information that becomes available outside of what the typical fan has access to is revelatory and also really drives home how much context is still being missed even with all of that information. You don't discover that you know everything, you discover how much you still can't know no matter how hard you try, hence my point about the NFL not being able to figure out what makes a QB good. There's a lot of AI work going into that now and even that only seems to further confuse things vs. actually enlighten the problem. In the professional realm teams don't really talk about quarterbacks as A strictly being better than B, but how A can potentially perform better than B given a specific context of C. Of course those contexts may be wider for A than B, but there's also contexts where B can outshine A, even with lesser talent surrounding them. So what good teams strive to do is ultimately define a process of how they want their entire team to operate under schematically, find players that fit that scheme, and hopefully find a guy whose skillset will be maximized running that scheme with those players. Where bad teams fall of the wagon is constantly shifting those schemes and chasing bad fits or fads vs. sticking with a core identity and developing it.
    • there is a 100 mile long list of NFL players and coaches going to bat and defending horrible play from teammates.
