I was at my bro's house the other week and saw he is reading that book you told me about, I think it was Mistborn. So I'll borrow it from him and check it out.

Sorry, I have no recommendations as you know I mostly read non-fiction.

I'm looking for some new scifi tv shows.

can't recommend enough the Hyperion series by dan simmons. not only some the best sci-fi i've ever read but some of the best books I've ever read. F*cking amazing. Also, anything by frank herbert (obligatory,) The Mote in God's Eye by Larry Niven and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Heinlen. The other Ender's Game books are also great.

Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan like SmootsD suggested.

Brandon Sanderson is penning the final book since Jordan passed away after a long illness before he could put the story to paper. This is turning into a 3-part finale and the series is 12 books (written by Jordan). RJ recited the ending to the series to his wife/editor and a few other family members/close friends before he died and his wife selected Brandon Sanderson to pen the close of the saga. The first of the final three books is now published.

I would highly recommend this series as it's my all time favorite. Another series to consider is the Thomas Covenant series by Stephen Donaldson. I would recommend either of these two authors!

So far I have read.

The entire Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

The Night Angel series by Brent Weeks

Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson

Enders Game

Some John Ringo

Even the some Karen Miller.

Helps!

My personal favorites are Empire of the East, and the Legion of Videssos. Videssos is about part of a Roman legion being transported to another world in which Magic is far stronger than in ours. It was written Harry Turtledove, and the world they are transported to bears a lot of similiarities to the eastern roman empire after the split, except with magic. Turtledove majored or minored in Byzantine studies, so he knows a lot about the period. Empire of the East is a future world (maybe ours) that is devastated by a near nuclear war in which a few bombs go off. Somehow this makes magic stronger, and wizards arise thousands of years afterward. I think it was what the Book of Swords was based on.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
