Then why are we even here? Why even turn on ESPN or read a single Panthers article if you think that every single reporter is out to lie about the Panthers?

Of course the report could have been faulty. But can we please be honest and admit that it probably wasn't? Reporters have better stuff to do than to just make poo up, especially nfl.com writers.

I am just saying that not every report you read is true. Point being is we don't know for a fact that any team was willing trade for Peppers. Despite him being a great player, there is the fact that not only would a team have to give up a high draft pick(s), they would have to lock him up long term and pay him even more then probably what the Panthers offered him thus the reason why there wasn't as much trade activity as fans wanted to see.

I am just speculating, just like everyone else...

Ok Peppers drama over, it was pretty predictable, (at least to the fans) since 07. I have always wondered the QB situation and keep waiting for them to spring Jake on us...or some kind of Moore trade.

Knowing the panthers they will probably start Jake, tendor Moore for a first and get a stud WR with it.

Why all the Hurney Hate???? Is he a bad GM?? No. Fact remains year in an out since he has been here the panthers have been competitive. We have young talent... He has made tough decisions, some that has made our team better.

No GM knows what will happen in the future... that’s why hindsight is always 20/20 for us fan. It's easy to expose his mistakes. But in a league with parity like the NFL and 32 teams thriving to make the superbowl he has done well.

Yes there are negatives like our lack of complimentary WR for Smith, and not having a replacement for Jake (Then again Moore may just be that guy).

Part of the peppers decision no maybe the fact that they have seen our young DE talent for a year now and believe they can get the job done. If he walked/traded last year we would have been throwing brown in the mix asap. But we got a chance to let him develop and learn, and he may be better for that... Time will tell

Do I want peppers gone, no. But I understand why they are making this decision. Would they have like to have gotten something for him? Sure... but it's not always as black and white as everyone try's to make it seem....

Plus franchising him makes him hard to trade... If we franchised him this year... then any contract a team offers him will be based off of him making 21 mil this year... that’s were negotiations would start from and teams are not going to want to give picks/ value up for that.

Get off of Hurneys back... time will tell. Everyone was over the panthers when Will Witherspoon became a FA... Look at our young LB core now.

I know most people will end up laughing at this statement but I am making a bold prediction and say that we will be even better on defense next year with Peppers gone...

Don't get me wrong, he will be missed amongst the Panther's D but we have several young guys behind him that has learned behind him. Plus, we have Beason and Harris as the leaders of the D so it isn't like they will be lacking leadership. These guys are motivated and have something to prove and many fans may be doubting them but with their motors, I think we will be just as good or even better on defense.

Remember, a team is made of many players, not just one.

Agreed. No longer will they be able to "lean" on Peppers to make plays. The ENTIRE defense will step it up and become a better cohesive unit.

I agree. Everybody coming back will have a year of Meeks system under their belt and Brown/Johnson will do fine.

The people who are a bitch are the fans that bitch about Peppers leaving... Sorry, no offense man but I am getting tired of fans blaming him for this...

Again, he offered to make him to be THE HIGHEST PAID DE IN THE LEAGUE and he wouldn't accept it

As far as trading him, there probably wasn't any teams with the balls enough to pay him that much PLUS give up draft picks. Now that he is free, teams won't have to give up anything.

No the bitch is Hurney, and people trying to justify his dumbass moves.

No offense but, so what? Peppers didn't sign a contract to become the highest paid defensive player at the time it was offered... He didn't want to. When he came back and was ready to negotiate, we obviously weren't on the same page.

Then he makes it clear he doesn't want to be here. So what does Hurney do? Eat up an assload of the salary cap to tag him - FOR NO fuging REASON. There was no point. We didn't win a Superbowl b/c he was here, so the poo was meaningless.

When he made it clear he wanted to leave, tag his ass, get compensation and move on. Instead, Hurney/Richardson basically wasted away an entire season mismanaging him... If you knew he wasn't committed to re-signing long term, you get value back. Not tag him for 1 mil per game, eat up your cap, then let him walk away for nothing - ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU TRADED A 1st ROUND PICK FOR A SITUATIONAL PASS RUSHER.

I'm not bitching about Peppers leaving, I'm bitching about our dumbass front office showing their unrivaled ineptitude at personnel moves. Guy wants to go, LET HIM WALK - FOR VALUE. QB SUCKS, LET HIM FINISH THE LAST YEAR OF HIS CONTRACT AND RETIRE - NOT RE-SIGN HIM TO A TOP-LEVEL QBs DEAL. DON'T TRADE AWAY DRAFT PICKS FOR SITUATIONAL PLAYERS.

These flubs are what I'm bitching about. Everything was mishandled.

I don't think they wouldn't just drop the deal completely, I just think that Peppers doesn't know what he wants... I will stand by my side of things and support the organization no matter what the case is. This team is better off and in time fans will realize that.
