A sporadic decent game one out of four times doesn't convince me...

Not trying to. But when Raanta gets first star I’m gonna congratulate him. You do you Mr. Negativity lol. Your Panthers whining is showing though haha.

The b2b took its toll and the players looked pretty gassed with about 5 minutes left.

Raanta has earned stars a couple times and the crowd is doing their best to encourage him and regain some confidence.

And that’s what real fans do.

I feel like Raanta plays better when he’s playing up to his competition in our net. When he plays multiple games in a row he tends to stagnate.

Have to give Raanta credit for his game last night. Neither of those goals were really on him.

The first was just a very good play and pass to the man on the weak side. Both Chatfield and Orlov were caught too deep, Chatty was actually below the goal line and Orlov came in- nobody had Dowling standing 4' away. Orlov and Chatty both had their back to the puck when the pass was made.

The 2nd... well... with 8 seconds left just hold the puck and freeze it on the boards or dump it cross ice and run the last 8 seconds off. That was on Necas.

One other note... I did notice that Martin moves laterally much quicker than Raanta. His reflexes are quicker.

Agreed. Also he’s 6 years younger than Raanta which I feel like is still dealing with a LBI from early season. But ya Raanta side to side is way slower than he should be.

I should also note, Raanta does not seem to be challenging that much in the crease. Tending to hang back in the middle or on the goal line to allow his flippers and glove do most of the work. It may not be noticeable when you just watch him, but compare his work to Pyotr, Martin, even Perets throughout the course of high danger shots.

In general I agree but last night he challenged better and his glove work was outstanding, best i’ve seen it.

    • It's amazing how much yall can say the same things over and over and not annoy yourselves with it.
    • If you only look at measurables, Mingo and Legette might seem similar.  But when you actually look at them and watch them play, they aren't close to the same.   And this is coming from someone who is skeptical about Legette, although ultimately I believe he will work out.  I've just always disagreed with the comparisons to Mingo.   Mingo tests better than he plays/runs, whereas Legette plays/runs as well as he tests.
    • As bad as things were with the Panthers last year, we still had 4 other games outside of the 2 we won that we came very close to winning.  Could throw the Falcons game in there too, it was tied going into the 4th. I'm not really sure what to expect this year.  I don't think we'll make the playoffs.  However, we play in a very weak division where no team has a standout QB.  On paper, our OL should be good, and could be great if Ikem improves.  That alone could help mask a lot of problems on offense.  Should allow us to run the ball better.  Even if Bryce doesn't improve, the OL should at the very least give him more time to make the easy throws underneath and let a guy like Legette work his magic after the catch. And I think this defense in a 2nd year with Evero should, at the very least, be in the top 16.  I'm expecting our run defense to be as good as it has been in years. I think this team could push for 7-8 wins.  But it could also finish with 2 wins again.  That is just how the league works.  Jets offense was miserable last year, and yet they still won 7 games.   We won't really get a good feel of it until after the preseason, and even then, who knows.
