My 2 GUARENTEES for the draft

The first guarentee is not Panther related, but living in detroit I have an opinion.

1. The Detroit Lions will take CB/S Eric Berry out of Tennessee when Suh goes number 1 because the Rams will trade down to take bradford.

2. Our Carolina Panthers WILL trade with the niners to get our pick back for next yrs 1 and a 2nd. We will then draft DE Grahmn from Michigan university.

This is the all or nothing season for Fox and company they will trade to get this pick and will take Grahmn because they have already stressed they want to build this line as a UNIT, and we all know our philosophy is drafting. These are 2 guarentees I have for this draft. The trades might be different but we will have Grahmn and Berry will be a lion.

I think we will trade back into the 1st round this year, but I don't see us getting our pick back from SF, they have allot of needs to fill.

I'd guess SF will be interested in bundling and trading those 1st round picks to jump up and grab either Bradford or Clausen.

I still think SF will give Smith the chance to show he is the long term option at QB before they draft someone high. The worst that happens is he is terrible this year and they end up with a guy like Locker next year.

Peppermint9030, exactly what is it that you think that we will trade. I don't see us trading anything other than maybe next years draft pick again. I don't see a trade, although I do think that we will be a bigger player in FA this year, especially since we've dump Pep, unless he resigns.

Sorry to bust your bubble but I highly doubt anyone, including us, trades any future picks in this draft. The reason behind this is that there is a potential lockout coming and those picks would be worthless if there is no draft next year. I would bet that the best we can do is trade back and pick up some more choices. We really aren't in a good spot for the top DE's or DT's. I would be happy getting Andre Roberts but we can pull that off later in round 2. If we can trade back and pick up an extra 3rd or 4th I'd be happy.

No, just no. I've been saying this all along, St. Louis should take Jimmy Clausen number 1. Whether they will or not remains to be seen but that's the right pick.

There will be a draft next year regardless of a lockout.

No way the lions take a S.If McCoy is still on the board

Yea thats what I was thinking. If Schefter is right and the Rams take Clausen or Bradford #1 then Suh will be a Lion unless someone wows them with a trade offer. If the OP's scenario plays out with a trade at the top spot happening then McCoy will be in Detroit this season.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
