Panthers FO reasoning

Last offseason we gave Delhomme a 3 year extension and another 11 million guaranteed dollars. Why would we do such a thing? To clear cap space last season to afford Peppers' 17 million dollar tag.

Fast forward to this offseason....

So what do we do with the money we spent on Peppers last year that we won't be spending on him this year? We don't spend it on players that will actually be on the field next year, we use it to eat the 11 million dollars we gave Delhomme last year! So if you think about it, we f**ked ourselves in the a$$ two years in a row.

I think he was looking for discussion to possibly sway his view, though.

:mad:Man I loved Jake and Peppers. But dam stop riding their nuts. They are both gone and it is time to move on with the next starting QB which will Moore. So stop riding their nuts ok.:D

Seriously, people need to realize this IS sports and teams move on. A team that "moves on" is a team ready to do what is necessary and best for the team, which in turn is best for the fan base whether they like it or not.

No cap this year good enough reason for me.

Thanks for the welcome Panthers8192...I've been a long time 'lurker' just never got around to posting.

Just find it ironic how we blew 11 million dollars on Delhomme to afford the 17 million dollars on Peppers last year and have nothing to show for it. After the Cardinals game I knew Delhomme should never take a snap again so ya Rags maybe I should be the GM we prolly woulda made the playoffs last year.

don't really care about all that. i'm just glad that someone decided to right the ship and get it headed in a positive direction.

wasting money like that hurts but it would hurt more to stay the course just because so much had been invested.

addition by subtraction.

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
