What is really behind all these cuts????

How are we rebuilding? By letting older, inconsistent, injured, expensive players go

By replacing the core of our franchise all in the same year. Even the Patriots or Steelers didn't do that. No team in the playoffs last year did this.

dude, look at the Falcons in 09, Bengals this year......it doesn't take years to build a playoff team. It takes a few key parts to be working.

You are kidding, right??? What have the Bengals done this year, or last year for that matter? btw I have read that Marvin Lewis is also in his last year without an extension. And I don't recall the Falcons replacing their core all in the same year. Just look at the Bucs for a team that has tried it recently.

sentimentality has been thrown out the door. its all about what is best for the team going forward.

i'm just waiting for word that kasay has been let go so they can find a kicker that does both FGs and kickoffs. i seriously wouldn't have a problem with this.

i love it. fox/hurney wouldn't do this on their own. there has to be pressure from above.

i just saw that landon johnson is getting released today as well. if you cant be counted on to produce and are taking a lot of money from the team then you are out the door.

To me the core is Beason, Davis, Gamble, Otah, Gross, Kalil, Smith, Williams and Stewart...and it was the same last year

They had no choice with Peppers. They offered him $14M per year and he still walked. Overpaying him would have been a mistake.

They let an aging QB that was clearly done go. Could he have been a decent back-up? maybe. But, it was the right move.

They let an underperforming and injured DT go. They could bring Thomas back and be better off.

Lewis may be brought back cheper.

All of these were the right moves.

the Falcons were predicted to be last in the NFCS and be one of the worst teams in the NFL in 08. New coach, new rookie, QB, new RB....they made the playoffs. It doesn't take years to build a playoff team.......there are tons of examples of why it just takes a few key parts to go from the outhouse to the playoffs in the NFL.

I just thought you "it will be years" before we make the playoffs to be a tad much.

I want to add Chris Harris to that list. Maybe Wharton also if you believe the core is about 3 years looking forward before more changes are made.

Well, they continue to cut experienced starters that played around these guys. Trying to save on roster bonuses??

And rebuilding has nothing to do with it?

I still say look at the Bucs for an example of what can happen with wholesale changes.
