Panthers looking at DE Marques Douglas

He'd likely be picked up to fill Brayton's shoes. Douglas is 32 (shortly 33) but before you get too hyped up on that, realize that's only two years older than Brayton. Scouting reports would likely tell you that he's overall better than Brayton. At this point, he's probably best suited as a rotational player.

So why go older at this position, you ask? The answer would be to get a guy who can function like Brentson Buckner did, i.e. a smart, veteran presence who can help tutor the younger players in the details of the game.

In any case, as a smart veteran presence who's probably a little more of a playmaker than Brayton, I could see it. Especially given that we're pretty young across the DL.

They have already tried to resign Brayton and couldn't reach an agreement. After the Panthers didn't reach an agreement with him is when he started looking at other teams.

I don't think we should. I mean I don't how much he's asking for, but if it's close to what Douglas wants I say pay Brayton.

Why would Douglas be replacing Brayton? He is a DE in the 3-4 which is analogous to a DT in our 4-3. Seems he will be replacing Lewis not Brayton.
