Agent: Panther's Having a Firesale, Have Thrown Away 2010 Season

We've cut a bunch of 30+ vets.

Did we cut our defensive leader? Beason is still on the team.

We cut a couple of old defensive linemen? Good, they've been old for awhile. Time to let our young guys show what they can do.

We cut a older fullback? You mean we're going to go with the fullback we drafted last year? Wow, astonishing.

I don't understand why people are freaking out.

Some of the cuts were fine. Some were questionable.

The problem is we haven't brought in any "new" talent through Free Agency yet, and have a truncated draft.

Last year we went through Free Agency without one pickup. If that happens again this year, 2010 will be a throw away.

Let me get this straight. Letting go of aging vets, going with a youth movement, and continuing to build the team with young talent is throwing away a season?

Bullchit.

Sour grapes.

Do I feel we will contend for a Superbowl? I don't think you can find ANYONE who felt we could this coming season (although, ANYTHING is possible)...we're just moving on..aging teams have got to do that at some time or another.

Let me get this straight. Coming off a year where we were a QB from playoff contention and playing really well at the end of the season.. with crap for draft picks.. that's the best, most logical time to purge everyone over 30 off your team? Seriously?

And we were already one of the youngest teams on average last season.

The entire D-line from last year is gone, a starting LB and back up are gone. A starting CB could be gone with a 2nd round pick. The number 2 receiver is gone, the starting FB is gone, the starting RG is gone. Several other key special team players are gone. We have few draft picks, and apparently have disconnected the phone service to even try and contact any free Agents. I'll stop freaking when people stop trying to make bull crap into Filet mignon.

people fear what they don't understand.

they haven't seen the addition of anyone and probably just figure that since no one has been replaced that no one will be.

either that or they just can't comprehend that the same scrap heap in which we found most of the guys we lost will be able to supply us with more hidden gems and future fan favorites.

at any rate, there is no need for panic. its a youth movement. in a couple years we will be happy this happened. crap, even this coming season we could even be happy about it.

all these guys were going to be gone in the next couple seasons and would have been taking a decreased role but still eating up a lot of cap space until then. how do i know that? cause they are aging and on the wrong side of 30. bodies wear down, become more prone to injury, and take longer to recover from not just injuries but game days.

is there still value there? yes but that value is decreasing as time goes on. better to have money tied up in players that are more likely to be around and contributing at a high level in several years.

the thing that is so hard to swallow about this is that it is happening so quickly and maybe sooner than what some people would like. once we start adding players to the roster things will look a lot better but right now it's like having long hair for a long time and then all of the sudden you cut it short. you're in shock.

you've also lost some sentimental favorites. don't worry, though, you'll have others. we'll still in games, just with some different names on jerseys.

other than pep, how did we get these guys?

brayton?

kemo?

lewis?

vincent?

moose (v. 2)?

jake?

diggs?

thomas?

where did we get hoover? some high round draft pick?

all of these guys are replaceable and can be replaced for cheaper. for most of these guys we have their replacements on the roster already or players who probably will be able to replace them.

brayton and pep can be replaced by johnson and brown

lewis can be replaced by tank and/or irvin

kemo/thomas can be replaced by leonard

moose can be replaced by jarrett or rosario or some other FA or draft pick

diggs can be replaced by connor or anderson

hoover can be replaced by fiammetta and sutton

vincent can be replaced by mack

jake is being replaced with moore

not that they will be but they can be. if not then we can find someone through FA or draft. there are a lot more FAs that are going to become available this year, just like every year. we will find value the same way we did when we picked up all those guys that just got released.

you know what, though? we still have a really good secondary. we still have beason and davis at LB along with anderson and connor who showed some really good things last year.

we still have two young DEs with a lot of room for growth. one guy is a freeney type who is really smart and quick, the other is just a powerhouse.

we still have a dominant OLine with the best Oline coach in the league.

we have a young QB with a good bit of potential that can make all the throws, make decisions quickly, and make few mistakes.

we still have one of the most dynamic WRs in the game

we still have the best RB tandem in the league.

we will still win games.

Scot and Zod are agreeing......me and CWG are agreeing.

These are scary times...dogs are living with cats....pigs are flying....and the Panthers are getting better.

Me, Zod and Fiz are all in agreement on this.

Anyone wanna calculate the odds of that?

Honestly if you douche bags hate the way the team is going so much then gtfo.

No one is forcing you to be a fan of this team, if it twists your tiny balls so much then go watch the Saints or something. I may not understand some of the things the FO is doing but everything is not a fuging conspiracy against the Panthers. I am very excited to see what this young team can do. If they win 3 games, great, I'll be mad but at least we know these aren't the guys, if they win 16 games, great, you all can go eat a big fat plate of stinking smelly ass black crow. Some of you need to take Zod's advice for Fox and man up you fuging pussies. Your bitching is not going to change anything!!
