Antonio Bryant Headed to Cincinnati?

There are bigger names out there, but the first wide receiver to meet with the Bengals this offseason will be Antonio Bryant.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports Bryant will visit Cincincinnati on Tuesday. Bryant has been connected to the Bengals less than Terrell Owens and Brandon Marshall, but he makes a lot more sense.

At 29, Bryant is still in his prime. Unlike Owens, Bryant has deep speed to complement Cincinnati's short passing attack. Unlike Marshall, Bryant doesn't cost any trade compensation to acquire. And Bryant fits that whole "second chance" vibe Mike Brown loves so much.

The Bengals hold all the cards here. Bryant's market has been slow to develop and Cincinnati has other options if Bryant seeks too much money.

looks like we have to face this guy again next year (assuming he signs---he will)

This is a marriage that makes a lot of sense for both sides.

I know I'm not supposed to quote ESPNInsider so take it FWIW. They said supposedly the Panther's would like to have him but he would have to take a price cut. I know Insider isn't exactly the best source but just thought I'd let you guys know. He's visiting the Bengals but don't be shocked if he visits here too.

Bryant is the only FA WR that would actually UPGRADE our WR corps. All the other FA WRs will be no more than role players like Moose, but without the blocking skills.

Front office offseason "to-do" list:

-Cut aging players--check

-Steer clear of any quality players in FA, save some "role players" (scrubs in the average fans vernacular)--check

-Completely *** up any chance of a successful 2010--check

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
