Looking at the roster, there seems to be 39 roster spots thats are guaranteed. This would then mean that we need to fill 14 roster spaces.

Matt Moore

DeAngelo Williams-Jonathan Stewart-Tyrell Sutton-Mike Goodson

Tony Fiammetta

Steve Smith-Dwayne Jarrett-Wallace Wright

Jeff King-Dante Rosario-Gary Barnidge

Jordan Gross-Travelle Wharton-Ryan Kalil-Mackenzy Bernadeau-Jeff Otah-Geoff Schwartz-Duke Robinson

Charles Johnson-Everette Brown

Louis Leonard-Tank Tyler-Corey Irvin-Ed Johnson

Thomas Davis-Jon Beason-Dan Connor-James Anderson

Chris Gamble-Richard Marshall-Captain Munnerlyn-CJ Wilson

Chris Harris-Charles Godfrey-Sharrod Martin

John Kasay-Jason Baker-JJ Jansen

This team still have the talent to at least compete. I love the Wallace Wright signing and if we could bring back Teal and Wesley our special teams could actually be solid. I see us bringing in Brady Quinn to backup Matt Moore and at lest compete with him. John Fox loves Quinn and there both young with potential.

The only problems I have with this team are WR and DE. Both of these positions need to be addressed in free agency and the draft. WR always tend to fall in drafts so I think we can sit at where we are and not risk next years first and get a decent WR. Teaming up a Rookie, Jarrett, and Smith would give me confidence in that position. Like I have stated many times I am most concerned about the DE position. Everyone knows I was 100% for bringing Peppers back at any cost, but we should still bring Brayton back and try to get another steal like Johnson in the 3rd.

Finally did Witherspoon definitly get signed by the Titans, I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I would love to bring him back and team him up with Beason and Davis.

wallace wright by no means is guaranteed a roster spot.

i disagree, this guy was signed early on in the free agent process and was not just brought in for camp fodder. the guy is a great gunner who has something like 70 tackles over the past few years. guy will definitly be on the roster in my opinion.

I don't know man i don't see 14 spots. I only see a handful of openings that we can't likely fill with guys on the roster right now. I also will state who i would like to see fill it.

Backup DE with experience. ( Raheem Brock) familiar with system

Backup QB capable of mentoring and competing ( Charlie Batch ) less emotional than Jake

Backup or starting FB ( Naufahu Tahi ) Vikings FB low tender

WR who can also return kicks ( Mardy Gilyard ) Draft this kid. Effort player.

I would absolutely hate to have another WR on the team like Karl Hankton that can't contribute on offense. Sure Karl Hankton was a special teams ace, but it was a waste of a roster spot.

This team is built around field posistion battles. Having a couple of good gunners on special teams makes all the difference in the world. Sure, they might not light up the stat sheets the way fans would want them to, but you need special teams aces on a team like this if you want your playmakers to be able to their jobs exceptionally well.

Now, guys like Lloyd are a "luxery" because kickoff distance is meaningless in the face of kickoff return allowed. It doesn't matter if you kick it five yards into the zone if they get to the thirty yard line or better every time. That's why Lloyd was a wasted roster spot, while guys like Hankton or Wright are necessary.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
