CJ Spiller= new LT?

I went to 6 home games this semester he's not LT. Reggie Bush looked better than LT in college and that hasn't worked out too well.

I don't even know how he's advanced this high the draft. He needs a team with a good RB already in place to do the dirty work. He's not very good inside the tackles.

Yeah, that's a giant load of crap.

I don't know what it is about Clemson players, but they rarely live up to their hype from college. Conversely, many Gamecocks' players have solid careers, yet are relatively anonymous in national coverage and seem to stick on NFL rosters. I don't have a dog in the CU/USC fight, it's just an observation.

Look at some of the big Clemson draftees in recent years: Adams (r.i.p.), Eason and Gardner. None came in and lived up to their hype.

Coversely, not many USC guys have been drafted high, however these guys are dotted all over the league.

Again, just an observation for those people frothing over Spiller and Ford.

Spiller is a lock to be a great returner and a change of pace back in the NFL, but there are legit questions about him being a bell cow back: he's never shown a great desire or ability to get in between the tackles, take his licks and get his 3 yards and he's so-so in pass protection. The good news is bell cow backs seem to be going the way of the dinosaur.

Right now he looks like more of a Felix Jones/Reggie Bush type back rather than an LT, but that could change. I'm not sure he can bulk up all that much and I don't see him having the lower body strength as it is to be a true # 1.

Ryan Matthews is more the complete back in my eyes, but Spiller is too much of a talent for teams to pass up.

Smartest poster ever on the Huddle.

    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
    • In fairness, she is ensuring she is talked about.  People really aren’t going out there way to bring her up.  It’s some weird poo.  She would end up getting talked about given her actions if she was 40. Bill realizing some of these high end “companions” got a game of their own.  That’s what I don’t think Bill saw coming.
