im so sick of us releasing players and now we gotta read about who we may or may not trade?

Yeah, everything you just said made sense.

K, you are sick of them releasing players, now you are getting sick of them (possibly) trading, and getting sick of them (possibly) extending someone. What's left? Are you going to be angry if they draft someone too?

I would not get too excited untill the deal is done. The panthers can try to do anything they want.they tried to re-sign Peppers. Even If they do get a deal done..then look out for stewart when his contract is up.

Both could stay but I still think its unlikely. From a draft standpoint one could be used to get in the first round. would the panthers be willing to have almost 70-80million in 2 RB??

I like the idea of front loading the contract so alot of it is paid in 2010 so when a cap is reinstated there is NO hit. Then it wont kill the Panthers to have two premier backs when they have to pay Stewart.

It would love it if they both want to be part of something special and that is the best RB tandem in NFL history. Maybe the offense cooridinator can even get creative and design some packages where they are both on the field at the same time!!

One thing people tend to forget about Williams and Stewart: Not only are they both elite backs, they work extremely well together. I could count on one hand the number of top notch backs in the NFL that could share time without grumbling or (seemingly) a shread of regret. We happen to have two of them.

Keeping them together is one of the most important things the FO can do.

absolutely.

btw...anyone know where williams and stewart were yesterday evening?

its awesome to have these two guys hanging out like they do. most RBs might be in a bit of a rivalry considering both could be legit #1 RBs on most teams but here these two are good friends on and off the field. chemistry, talent, and long term potential like this you don't break up.

if this report is true, one thing it puts a kink in is those rumors of a trade to san diego.

Perhaps this is the reason that the FO has been making so many cuts. Allot of cap space lets us lock up players long term. Yes, none of us are happy that we lost so many vets without bringing in even one legit FA. But at the same time this might just allow us to keep core pieces of this team I.E. Williams and Stewart. The offense is built around those two and you best believe that even if JR is planning on bringing in a new coach, that coach will be run first. Time will tell if this is the case, but for now Im staying positive and waiting till after the draft to see what really happens with the organization.

So if we find a way to keep BOTH our top 10 RB's when most said it can't be done, does that mean the FO is no longer cheap and clueless?

Depends on how smart they are in doing it. Let's not forget the years we had SO much money locked into Pep, Buck, Jenkins, and Rucker. Some argue giving them so much money kept us from getting better in other areas.

So sure, we can keep both...but if we PAY both...where does that money come from?

Give DWill the extension but I think we need to trade Stewart. We could get a 1st rounder this year (which we don't have) or have an extra first rounder next year. We need desperate help on the D-Line, I don't think it wise to tie up 90+ million dollars for two RB on the same team. Don't get me wrong I would love to keep two top 10 RB on the same team but we need help elsewhere.

i'd rather spend 90 mill on 2 backs that like being here, like playing together, don't complain about sharing the ball and play hard on every down than 1 player who didn't want to be here and half assed on most plays.
