Here's one that might prompt more than a few people to mutter something along the lines of, "What the hell?" (Possibly with a different four-letter word at the end.)

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Florida quarterback The Golden Calf of Bristol has been invited to New York for the draft.

The move likely is related to a recent report from Alex Marvez of FOX regarding the possibility that "top projected second-round picks" will attend the second day of the draft.

This year, the first round will be held on Thursday night, April 22. The second round will be conducted on Friday night, April 23.

There's a chance that, when round two ends, The Golden Calf of Bristol still will be available. And that definitely would not be a blessing.

so they can Brady Quinn him all day... If The Golden Calf of Bristol is smart, he'll stay the fug home...

Naw, this is the first time they are inviting players for the 2nd day of the draft.. it is well known that The Golden Calf of Bristol will not go in the first round, so this is a little different then in year's past.. like Aaron Rodgers or Brady Quinn.

On the heels of an impressive workout at Florida's pro day, league sources say that The Golden Calf of Bristol is among those players who have been invited to New York for the NFL draft April 22-24.

The Golden Calf of Bristol, who unveiled his new throwing motion for scouts, coaches and general managers in his workout, has accepted the invitation from the league, according to an official. Two NFL personnel men told ESPN that The Golden Calf of Bristol's workout on Wednesday boded well for the Gators quarterback, especially with those teams that were considering him as a high draft prospect.

The league did not release the entire list of players invited, though it is expected to include at least four quarterbacks -- The Golden Calf of Bristol, Oklahoma's Sam Bradford, Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen and Texas' Colt McCoy.

The league traditionally invites players who are projected to go in the first round. A league official said that even though The Golden Calf of Bristol could be a first-round selection, the new three-day draft format also motivated the NFL to double its invitation list from nine players in 2009 to 18 at next month's draft.

The new draft format will conduct the first round only on April 22, a Thursday night, and the second round only on the next night. The final four rounds will be conducted on Saturday.

The Golden Calf of Bristol threw dozens of passes to former teammates Riley Cooper, Aaron Hernandez and David Nelson during a 30-minute workout.

Carolina Panthers coach John Fox, Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Raheem Morris were in attendance. So were Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Gene Smith and Browns president Mike Holmgren.

About 3,000 fans showed up despite light rain. They cheered loudly as The Golden Calf of Bristol walked onto Florida Field for the first time since his home finale in November and applauded every completion.

I wouldn't go unless I were a lock for the top 10 positions. Otherwise you sit there while folks pass over you and the camera pans on you every pick waiting to see some kind of reaction. If he didn't go in the first round it would suck to be there and watch 32 guys, many of which were not there, get the nod while you sat and watched.

I agree

The NFL probably wouldn’t invite him if the draft format was the same as last year, because that would be kind of embarrassing......

I would go even if I probably wouldn't be drafted for awhile, just for the overall experience. If you are so thin skinned that you can't handle a few guys being drafted ahead of you then you probably shouldn't be in the NFL anyway. But hey, that's just me...

It isn't about being thin skinned as much as everyone remembering you were the guy getting passed over. Don't we all remember Brady Quinn who was predicted to go in the top 10 sitting there every pick until he finally got picked number 22. People still remember him sitting there trying not to look upset or embarrassed. I would rather be picked wherever and discuss it later that day or the next rather than be on national TV while everyone talk about how I have fallen and speculating on why or where I would finally be picked.

But hey that is just me.....................

      Of course, everyone has film. That is probably fresh in their mind though. Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.

      I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).

      It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
