Carlos Dunlap

The Carolina Panthers — who Dunlap, a South Carolina native, has said several times would be his ideal team — showed the most interest at Pro Day. Dunlap held a half-hour workout with Panthers defensive line coach Brian Baker, and Carolina could use a defensive end after losing Julius Peppers to the Bears and a $91.5 million contract earlier this month.

Baker mostly focused on testing Dunlap’s flexibility and seeing how he takes instructions, and he said Dunlap has already proven himself in the most crucial area, on game film.

Baker also said the DUI arrest isn’t a huge issue.

“As long as a guy is a good guy — and I don’t think a DUI makes him a bad guy, I think he made a bad decision,” Baker said. “If a guy is a good guy, I’m okay with him. If a guy is a turd, I don’t like him.”

projected to be a high 2nd round pick on most mocks, not worth trading for him. If we trade into that range, it better be to get Brian Price..

we've got 2 DEs with tons of potential, Dunlap wouldn't be able to contribute anymore than Brown or C. Johnson.

kind of agree with this. if we trade up, it could be a DT(like price, cody etc.), or a WR like tate, thomas, or benn

I like Baker more and more everyday.

I don't know about Dunlap going that early though, it depends if a run starts on DEs early in the draft... From what I saw on NFLN, Dunlap didn't impress at the combine... Said he looked pretty stiff and wasn't fluid in his movements. But, they may have said he looked better on his pro day... I just think there's too many questions for him to go that early.

I wouldn't mind taking him if he's there though...

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
