unnamed team is reportedly attempting to trade up to the Raiders' No. 8

An unnamed team is reportedly attempting to trade up to the Raiders' No. 8 overall spot by offering a 2010 second-round pick and a 2011 first-round pick.

The deal would get the Raiders back into the 2011 first round after trading away their own pick for Richard Seymour last year. One other team has also offered to swap draft spots with Oakland this year. The Raiders haven't traditionally traded up or down at draft time, and they're not expected to be swayed this year, either.

Why would a team with a first round pick try to trade up before they know what is going to happens and who will be of the board?

If a team want a player they will wait and see. And if a trade happens you would guess it would involve their first rounder..

Unless the team trying to trade up is a team without a first rounder :):)

    • He threw for 199 and 198 against Miami and the Cowboys so he didn't get them into that situation in those games. More importantly, Miami, the Cowboys and the Packers threw for 261, 256 and 273 yards respectivly - all more than Young. And yet they all lost. High passing yardage does not equate to wins.
    • Fair point, honestly didn't even realize he was listed as questionable as well, could still be for both of them in case either isn't able to go tomorrow. That Canales said something like "we'll check him out tomorrow to make sure he's able to go" still makes me think they were still expecting him to play, as that would be a weird way to phrase it if they felt he was more likely to not be playing. Still just hoping it would be like when a player feels something in a game, gets checked out, but goes back in.  And since it was just practice, once he felt anything, they just shut him down for the day to be safe.
    • The Golden Calf of Bristol was Mr Clutch time.  It’s the Skip Bayless argument.  Someone how being trash all game doesn’t matter….if you can cherry pick one random play late
