Josh Green to Charlotte

I've seen so much negative response to this deal.  We gave up 2 second round picks (basically nothing) for a 23-yr old who shoots 38-40% from 3, is an above average defender, started half the year last year, has Finals experience.  This is a young, inexpensive, great shooting, high-upside role playing guard....isn't that something we need?

I would guess fans want more of a splash move in free agency.  I like the move but it’s fairly clear that we aren’t a desired destination for better FAs

Yeah - why would we be?  The NBA is all about Superteams and Championship runs.  None of the splash guys are going to go here until we hit a few stars to build around.  LaMelo and BMiller aren't big enough....and Bridges' future is uncertain.  1 Star won't get us a deep playoff run....probably an appearance and 1st round exit.

I love the Green trade. I think people will be surprised at how well he does with a bigger role in Charlotte. I’d honestly pencil him in as the starting two guard.

So far we’ve added Green and Jackson and lost Curry (who apparently they want back), Thor, and Bailey.

1 - LaMelo Ball, Vasilije Micic, Tre Mann, K.J. Simpson

2 - Josh Green, Reggie Jackson, Nick Smith Jr., Bryce McGowens

3 - Brandon Miller, Cody Martin, Aleksej Pokusevski, Leaky Black

4 - Miles Bridges, Grant Williams, Tidjane Salaun, Davis Bertans

5 - Mark Williams, Nick Richards, Marques Bolden

There’s still moves to be made and it’s likely that Bertans, McGowens and maybe even Pokusevski are waived as all three have non-guaranteed contracts.

Well, there was that one time when we got Johnny Newman.

Isn’t Bridges a FA?

I feel like they’ll bring him back but I could be wrong.

I think we should absolutely bring him back. Hopefully he can be realistic on the money.  Before this horrible thing he did he was a fringe all star player.
Also, outside of the suspension he plays.  He hasn’t been injured much.  I keep him.

This dude has had 40+ pt games and can play 3 or 4.

Real question would you trade Melo for Steph? No clue how the money would work but lots of people are turning on Ball and Curry probably has 2 decent seasons left? Warriors are going to be a fringe playoff team next year and might be looking to start over.

    • PFN.. 28) Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers It’s just one week, but so far, Bryce Young doesn’t look any better under new head coach Dave Canales and with an improved supporting cast on offense. Young finished Week 1 as PFN’s fourth-worst quarterback of the week, with Watson being the only non-rookie starter with a worse grade. Perhaps the most worrisome sign with Young was his 52.1 passer rating from a clean pocket.
    • Fresh NFL QB index... Only one behind him is Daniel Jones and that's probably because Bryce got the little rushing td Rank 31     Bryce Young Carolina Panthers · Year 2 2024 stats: 1 game | 43.3 pct | 161 pass yds | 5.4 ypa | 0 pass TD | 2 INT | 12 rush yds | 1 rush TD | 0 fumbles   The reclamation project couldn't have started much worse. Young never appeared comfortable against the Saints. He missed open receivers (throwing two interceptions), struggled to make the most of scrambles and only occasionally navigated the pocket well enough to find targets amid the madness of an NFL play. The Panthers lack talent and were buried before they even had time to blink, forcing them into a pass-heavy approach that only made the situation worse for Young. He did throw a few nice passes in garbage time, but getting him right is going to be a long process.
    • If he were just simply dropped in. If he had been on the team the investment in offense would not have to have been so over the top. We'd have better on defense.  The loading up the offense just went over and above. Hell when I was posting the tally of offense vs defense drafting, it didn't hit me upside the head until I saw it on the field. As far as the defense, they have had very little time as a unit, pieces in and out every day almost. They will get better with reps together but with Derrrick out, that's tough.
