Santonio Holmes traded to JETS!!!

I wouldn't call him "instrumental" in that game. I'll give you that he contributed. But then the next season, he was gone and left the franchise with a black eye and a gaping hole in their receiving corps.

And seriouslym when you think about it, what team needs a "bad boy" receiver with domestic violence charges on his record less than the Panthers, given prior history?

other than the one we already have? none.

How many excuse are you people going too make for this not being a good move?????

1. "Oh it's too much of a risk." Really a 5th round pick is too much too Risk?????? If he fugs up Cut Him you only lose a 5th round pick.

2. "27 teams didn't want to do it." Who gives a fug what 27 teams did I don't care. 25 passed up on Jon Beason how stupid do they look. 31 teams for 6 rounds passed up on Tom Brady. Lets not bring up what the raiders and browns don't do any more please.

3. "He is out the first 4 games" Again any 5th round pick is out the 1st 14 games because they don't make a impact. If I'm wrong name one for the panthers please. I'll wait??????????

4. Character issues ---- Steve Smith you don't win with a team full of alter boys every team needs a few thugs.

If he rapes team chemistry with his stupid doucheyness, we lose a lot more than that.

How bout that we don't have a fifth round pick?

No way I'd have given up a fourth. And if our best offer was a sixth, they had a better offer.

For the record, teams didn't "pass" on Jon Beason. They took another player they felt was better suited to their needs. Pretty sure the only linebacker taken ahead of him was Patrick Willis.

And I'd dispute that every team "needs" a guy with domestic violence issues :nonod:

I guess you have a bad memory or you don't pay much attention. We did have this guy named Captain Munnerlyn last year.

What fuging team chemistry??? You have a whole Dline who haven't played with each other at all. How would he mess up team chemistry with Steve Smith on the team. As soon as he gets out of line pop goes the weasel. I could see what you are saying if we didn't have such a dominating personality like Smitty. But we do he would fall in line or get cut and you only lose a 5th round pick. No risk again.

moss was a quitter and smoked pot and the pats wisely stole him from the raiders where he has again showed why he is a force. holmes is a superbowl mvp, and even with the conserns (moss had them too, he could have been sat for substanse abuse if he was caught) its a 5th rounder. which would you rather have tank tyler or santonio holmes? i wonder if we could even get a 7th for tyler at this point, that was a move of utter desperation. this is a pickup thats is for a high caliber player thats also an absolute kucklehead (not packman bad but still an idiot).

i understand why we dont do this though $$$ give up another pick (oh noes!) and character concerns (um smitty should have the same issues with his 2 assualts on players but thats cool with everyone). if he stays clean for even 1 year, the jets come out like bandits for 2010 (as unlike edwards holmes can catch). if he doesnt he is essentially a little worse than tank tyler in 2009 who was a scrub forced to start do to injuries (irvin, kemo, leonard).

    • I don't necessarily think he will be moved, I would currently be leaning against that notion. I think a lot will depend on the coaching situation. Carroll certainly can't be thinking about wanting to go through a serious strip down and overhaul, so the longer he plans to remain, the less likely I think Crosby gets moved.
    • I think everyone says Mike Evans because of size, but really they have different strengths and play styles.  Tmac is better on intermediate routes and not nearly as good at contested catches.
    • At this point, it is criminal to go into the 2026 training camp/OTA's with XL penciled in as a #2 WR. The team must upgrade, either through free agency or the draft. If he cannot give 100% effort on significantly less snaps as a #4-6 WR(players like Tremayne have done that consistently) then I don't think you have a player worth rostering beyond the trade deadline. Offensively, we eventually have to upgrade to an NFL starting caliber C. It's been almost the length of time from Gross to Ikey since Kalil retired and we have below average to terrible C play. Love Mays as a BC-esque utility backup but he will never be an above average long term starting C.  The TE room is one of the worst in the NFL but it's a low usage position in this offense, so the investments are likely to be small, if any. I would never expect to see an elite TE in a Dave Canales offense. 100% agree on OL depth. We actually aren't bad there but BC will be gone, Mays is a UFA, Corbett is a UFA and Zavala has been both injured and bad. We have to bolster that depth again or resign guys like Mays and Corbett to keep that depth somewhat stable.
