Yeah, I didn’t compare him to Rhule.  It’s merely a reference to how those perfect storm games can pop up when everything aligns for you on a random Sunday.  I merely referenced the last one as a reminder of them. .  Carolina went out west and steamrolled a team (both times) with everything going there way….but just like the last time we witnessed one of those games, most things point to that being more fluky than reality going forward

Oakland’s defense played pretty poorly too. I think fans are just excited because there is a chance we can be competitive again on Sundays. The Bengals probably beat us, but with Dalton we probably beat bad teams more times than not IMO. I still see the 6 wins and will happily take them.

Completely agree. The way the Panthers won is repeatable. It wasn’t some fluke where the defense scored a touchdown or two and then special teams blocked a punt and returned one for a touchdown. It was a thorough beat down within the regular framework that a game operates.

Dalton isn’t consistently making those throws though each Sunday.  D clearly isn’t going to do what they did…..all aligning together on the same Sunday.

Cam agrees.  Linked to timestamp but around 4:06

We are better than with Bryce. I’m thrilled Andy is starting because I think XL, Mingo and Saunders will now have legit opportunities to grow.

But a good football team isn’t something I’m going to pretend we are simply because we had a good Sunday.  We see what we saw last Sunday happen with teams like ours from time to time.

same folks that few me as a Dalton basher will be calling be a Dalton defender when they swing hard the other way on him.  I’ve seen how that plays out

Cam knows his poo. I’m sure they overlooked us too, but I will say to travel across the country and come out swinging like that (against a bad team or not) is still very impressive.

Cam did call him “Allen” Theilen lol…

Those games do exist I agree. Especially for us. As Panthers fans we've seen them. Sports equivalent of a fugazi.

At this point I don't think we can form much of a conclusion one way or another. We need to see more games to form a true perspective. There's nothing wrong with not buying in yet based off one win. There's also nothing wrong with being cautiously optimistic.

For me I feel good about our chances going forward because it all starts with coaching. I really liked the way from top to bottom Canales and his staff operated and had the team motivated. Now we just need to see it replicated consistently. I do not expect to win a whole lot this season. Just give me positives and something to build on.

I just want Dalton to air it out and give XL and Mingo lots of different experiences .  I’m okay with turnovers in the name of experience…pending they are legit 50/50 opportunities that force them into make a play scenarios.

It was fetal position football.  I think Dalton takes the shots a Canales O requires.  He did last game.   I’m a okay if that goes south on him several Sundays.  Unlike with Bryce, I think we best teams like the Bears and company with Dalton.

The Raiders may have overlooked us. But they are not the cellar team some talking heads are trying to label them to diminish our win. Last year they moved on from Derek Carr and then later on that same season proceeded to put up 63 points with an interim coach and Aidan O' Connell at QB. Can you even imagine us doing that in 2020 after cutting Cam? We've endured some of the lowest scoring games in franchise history just within the last season.

I'll take having something to feel positive about going forward and just competitive watchable football overall 10 times out of 10.

Not sure why you'd say that. There were a number of bad throws, so it wasn't perfect. Someone said dropped Ints but it wasn't like in their breadbasket just put where they could have made a play.

This is with something like 3 days of reps with the first unit, no preseason ( a big deal to a lot of people).

Hadn't been on the field literally in a year. I think we are going to see a very similar Dalton in that regard.

The TD to Johnson and to AT….were great.  But Andy ain’t consistently hitting those type throws.   If he could, he would not have spent the last half decade as a backup.

Considering those were no doubt top level throws, you take those when they come.

I don't think you could say he can't make them; because he just did.  So maybe you say he doesn't consistently make them, I say 'who does?'.

I don't see how you can look at the overall total picture and say that was backup QB flukey stuff and he'll not be able to do that on the regular.

I am for sure not saying he won't miss some throws but what he showed is if he gets the protection he got and makes the right read I think he can eat like a top half of the league QB.

I am much more wary of less than perfect communication with the receivers as opposed to lack of physical execution.

He can’t consistently make those type throws.  And him hitting several in one game….helped the perfect storm game be what it was.   And it wasn’t just that, it was pairing a passing performance you aren’t going to see most Sundays with a D performance you likely aren’t going to see each Sunday going forward too.  Oakland has the most pathetic rush attack in the NFL.   We can’t handle a run and our D falls apart trying to defend a run game

I think you are doing the devil's advocate for some reason. Maybe you are bored.

Several? You mentioned two. Now it is several....

We're going to see, but he has a downgraded receiving complement this week, and downgraded protection. So expecting a replay is not realistic but I expect him to look like an NFL quarterback and the one we have that gives us a chance to win.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
