Auburn literally could've had 20+ fouls in that half. Hate playing teams like this. They picked up 5-6 quick ones then like always happens the refs start to get whistle shy not wanting to call a foul every possession and they start getting away with murder. The way they call the games encourages this type of play. If they keep fouling just keep calling it.

I mean, our bigs suck. Just own it. Play the two frosh and press the poo out of everyone. Basically recreate the old Arkansas 40 minutes of hell pressure D. You have to adapt to your roster. You can't just act like Armando Bacot is going to show up tomorrow.

Cadeau, RJ, Jackson, Powell, and Withers should be our main five and just try to turn it into a track meet.

If we don't switch it up and start playing full court pressure D we're just going to have to shoot lights out and have the other team have an off night to have a chance against top teams. We've trailed by 20 in three of our four games and ended up getting back in them by picking up the pressure. This team has to pressure and create pace because we don't have the post presence to play half court ball on either side of the court.

UNC is soft which is indicative of poor coaching. Like Mack, Hubert coddles these kids.

This really is the problem this season.  UNC being pushed around and missing a man in the middle.  Great everywhere else but no bruiser in the middle will hurt them

Doesn't look like Carolina has the firepower to play this run and gun style they're trying. Davis needs to slow them down and call some set plays.

Absolutely the wrong take. We have to run and gun. We have zero post presence. We just have to make shots. We just can't hit water from a boat tonight and we're turning it over to boot. Then you have a poor shooting opponent shooting lights out.

Looks like a long season ahead of us though if Hubert doesn't adapt to this roster. We have to play a pressure trapping D and get out in transition because we aren't beating anyone in the half court.

    • MoRon sucks. We should have been a perennial contender with Cam and Luke in their primes, instead we wasted those generational talents on Ron and Shula.
    • Don't look now, but a 3-game win streak, including 2 on the road in back-to-back games. The Canes haven't won 3 straight since the middle of November, over 2 months ago.  Canes held Dallas to 23 SOG, with a lot of those coming in a late game flurry. Canes have had some difficulty keeping SOG down to where we're used to seeing them. The Dallas game was reminiscent of the defense we saw early in the season- standing teams up at the blue line and making zone entry a real pain in the pads.
    • Agreed with a lot of this. Couple thoughts, especially towards the OL/future cap things... First, I hope Bryce is good enough to command being paid a Top 5 QB salary. Great news for us if so. But as of now, I think he'd be in that mid-tier range, so that $60 gets cut to 30-40. Baker to Stafford range. Obviously the cap will go up and $60 might be the new mid-tier, but either way I think we're fine here. He either continues to ascend and gets paid Top 5 money because he's that good and thank God. Or, he shows he's Baker level, gets a competitive offer that's outside the Top 10, and we're "saving" money (but also paying someone who may not be the "guy" in that scenario).  The OL is the biggest thing going forward IMO. You're 100% right here about the need for an OL, paying them, % of the cap, etc. Which is why in the next couple of drafts, we HAVE to absolutely nail a couple OL picks. We can't realistically tie up that much money in our OL. So we better turn into the Cowboys the late 2010s and constantly have a revolving cycle of a couple highly paid pieces, with drafted guys who step up and take their place once we have to move on. One highly paid OT, one highly paid OG, and then find rookie deals or cheaper vets that fit well.  Point being, we're teetering on the edge of a few foundational pieces being here now. IF, and history isn't on our side here, we can nail the next couple of drafts...we're in a good spot when it comes to the cap and future. If we don't find a couple of defensive cornerstones and find reliable OL depth that can take over for Hunt/Moton/Lewis as they age or contracts balloon...that's when we're right back in hell IMO. No pressure, Dan.
