Panthers are starting 2 rookies at WR, 1 rookie at TE, 1 rookie LB, 1 rookie at nickel etc.  Not sure what else they could do to “tank harder”. Not playing the young guys would be moronic.

I don’t think starting rookies = tank per se. We’ve been starting lots of rookies every year since Rhule started. That’s been more of an indictment of how bad our talent pool has gotten. Trading Burns, Diontae, Mingo (lol) and just finally being sellers by not giving up our talent for a crappy QB is more tanking.

Hopefully, we don’t somehow screw it up because damn if there aren’t a poo ton of bad teams this year. Last year we got the number 1 pick, which wasn’t ours anyway, by 2 games. 2nd worst team had 4 wins. There might be 6-7 teams with 3 or less wins this year.

Hopefully we can get in the top 3....

And the Jags still play the Titans twice, Jets, and Raiders... they're winning at least one of those

If we lose out, we're picking 4th at worst, which in reality, would be like picking the 2nd non QB if the Raiders and Giants are picking before us as they're both going QB.

Draft Tetairoa McMillan no matter what!

Good point I forgot about the Jags and Titans playing each other in the same division. We sitting pretty right now.

I've been saying it for a week or two, that all those teams picking ahead of us when we were sitting 9th in the draft all had games against each other still.

As long as we don't have an unexpected upset, it all comes down to the Dallas game.

Lose to Dallas and we're picking 4th at the very worst, real possibility of anywhere in the Top 4, even 1st.

Beat Dallas but lose out besides that and I still think we end up picking Top 5 in the end as well.

1 step closer to Tmac

Been trying to speak this into existence since last November

And while the other player I was talking about in that thread didn't become Tank Dell this year like I said, I also said it depended on him going to a team that needed to use him, which didn't happen.  As he ended up getting drafted by the 49ers who have a deep WR room and took a WR in the 1st as well, but he still made the team and is their starting punt returner.

I still think New England will be our biggest threat for Tmac. If we can jump them I think Tmac is for sure ours if we want him.

Good for you putting me on notice. I had no clue about this dude before the college season. I been watching him ever since and I'm sold.

I wanted Hunter, but Prime said he will have a say in where he plays as well. So at this point I'm just Tmac or bust.

I do kinda still feel he's destined to go to NE as well, but really only because two of the best Wildcats of all time are also Patriots legends in Gronkowski and Bruschi (plus he's a fit there).

If they're picking ahead of us, I'm hoping they strike out on a LT in free agency, as if they do, they need to protect Maye, that's probably more important for them right now than getting him a WR.

And I still think a defensive pick makes sense with their HC being a former defensive player and them using their 1st on a QB last year.  Two straight Top 5 picks on offense for a defensive HC in his first 2 seasons just seems unlikely as well.

    • He didn't actually make the playoffs. We had several opportunities to clinch on our own and crapped the bed. We had to wait for Atlanta to win to get us in. We had the tie breaker in a poo division that had 3 teams finish 8-9.  If you go back and look at the games we played, we weren't a dominant offensive team under him as an OC. We beat the Jets 13-7 and barely beat the packers after they failed to convert multiple red zone trips. We relied heavily on converting 4th downs. DC was also extremely slow at recognizing trends in game and was really lacking with clock management.  Was there progress this year? Yes. But most of it was on the defensive side of the ball. Our offense was stagnant with a couple of exceptions. Any improvement from Bryce was minimal and he kept insisting on XL over Coker, and even RB distribution instead of going with the hot hand.  He may be building something, but I don't think we've seen enough to know what that is. It could go either direction. If he insists on being OC, then without a noticeable improvement, yes he needs to be on the hot seat like any OC would. The more jobs you take on the more you have to be judged on. I think he would have a longer leash if he hired a true OC and just focused in being HC.
    • zero percent suprised Luke is a nice guy irl, have never heard anything differently from anyone that's met him.  I have heard mixed reports on Smitty I know one guy on here got to know Deangelo Williams and J stew pretty well back in the day when they used to host events and he said they were nice iirc  I can't imagine Jordan gross is a bad hang, he's hilarious
    • Ran across this bit of fun. As seen on https://www.thesportinggent.com/blogs/dispatches/front-porch-musings-field-ethos-journal (a blog for outdoors gear and clothing)
