The Panthers have a "type" of WR they typically get in 2nd round especially. I know Legette was the last pick of the 1st but he falls into that catagory. The Panthers love drafting big hulking, raw, project WRs around the 2nd round. Mingo, TMJ, Legette, Funchess. The list goes on.

This is a trend that's transcended different regimes, owners, GMs, and HCs. Which is the most baffling part of it all.

The Panthers generally dont like drafting polished WRs in general. Even DJ Moore was a bit rough and more known for his ability to break tackles vs running crisp routes.

I think the staff fell in love with Legettes personality honestly. Him only balling in 1 year of 5 years in college football and making mostly jump balls/body catches is the definition of gambling on a boom or bust prospect.

Not saying Legette is a bust, but hes got a long way to go.

Let’s give XL some leg room though. He still looks pretty good for a rookie. He might become more dynamic as he grows as a WR. I think he’ll be a #1 for us eventually.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
