I see absolutely no reason not to return to a 4-3.

Clowney, Wonnum, Brown, and Robinson would be a good start for the Dline.

I think Trevin Wallace would be a natural 4-3 MLB (and carry on the Panthers proud tradition of elite interior LBs).

We've got to do something. Obviously getting someone elite like Derrick Brown back will help, but in general, what we are doing schematically against the run just isn't working.

Have Canales call his buddy Saleh and let's fix this thing for next year and win the division

Didn't Tepper try to force Ron to move to a 3-4? I may be misremembering, but if that's the case I doubt we're moving away from a 3-4 anytime soon.

I honestly don't think Tepper forced that, but I think he was infatuated with the idea bc of his background as Steelers minority owner.

Tepper never should have been in the equation period in terms of football operations.

I also don't want to get too hung up on 3-4 vs 4-3 bc i know there are so many variations etc that the difference between the two can be overblown, but whatever we are running, we haven't been able to stop pretty much every team gashing us at will.

That needs to stop regardless

Interesting that people are calling for our DC'S head, when we never would have been in the game if it wasn't for the defense.  Never should have gotten to OT.

236 yards rushing and stopping any team from winning when it counts will do that

Insisting on not moving your  best player to be on their best player, the one that is their go to…the one that has consistently beat the crap out of the Panthers by himself. ..tells me he will not change.

he constantly plays the softest defense in the NFL  let his players play for god sake

Evero’s time here has not been great…he dived down in Denver during his time there too.

I get he lost players this year..,every team loses players…236 yards on the ground, come on man.

we can agree to disagree

We won't ever really know for sure. But we do know that Rivera ran a 4-3 from from his first  season in Carolina thru the 2018 season. Then we went to a 3-4 in 2019 after hearing Tepper favored that front. We stayed with it ever since.

Owners definitely have a major influence. Richardson also admired the Steelers organization. And, just like the Steelers,  JR never hired an offensive minded HC in the years he owned the team.

Yet it wasn't the ground game that beat us.

I hate the poor defense of the rush too, although that is not what lost this game.

    • Also, the fact we are comparing this one to the 10 preseason tells me we are in for another horrible year.
    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
