Top 7 Predictions

Lots of time between now and the draft. Most mocks are very similar but how do you see the top 7 playing out

Obviously there’s the 2 QB’s: Cam Ward and Shadeur Sanders. We want both to go in the top 7

Unicorn: Travis Hunter

Defensive prospects: Mason Graham, Abdul Carter, Jalon Walker, Will Johnson, Malaki Starks, Mykel Williams

Offensive prospects: Kelvin Banks, Will Campbell, Tetairoa McMillan, Luther Burden, Ashton Jeanty, Colston Loveland, Tyler Warren

Tennessee (for sure) and 1 of Cleveland/NYG are probably going QB

Titans: Cam Ward

Browns: QB? Either Sanders or Hunter.

Giants: Depends on Browns. Take who Browns don’t between Sanders and Hunter

Pats: Banks? They need to protect Maye but they could opt for a WR (McMillan). Similar to the Chase/Sewell debate in Cincy a few years back although neither Banks or McMillan are on the same level

Jags: Kind of a wild card with a new coach coming in. Mason Graham between Josh Allen and Travon Walker would be quite the DL

Raiders: If they move Crosby maybe they take Carter? Tyree Wilson doesn’t seem to be what they had hoped. This team needs talent in a similar way we do

Jets: I could see Jalon Walker going here tbh. Add Walker into a front with McDonald and Williams. Will Johnson and Sauce would instantly become the best 1-2 CB duo in the league.

———————————

This draft is going to be a hard one to predict

So let’s say

Ward, Sanders, Hunter, McMillan, Graham, Carter and Walker are the first 7 off the board

Who are you taking at 8?

If that is how it plays out, I’m looking to trade down. Otherwise I’m going BPA. For me , BPA is Jeanty or Will Johnson. I think people are undervaluing RB, but even I wouldn’t take one in the first round, so I’d go with Will Johnson. Mykel Williams is in the conversation for me though.

In that situation it's gotta be Mykel Williams.  I hope Jalon Wlaker is there tho, that's my draft crush this year

I just can’t get on the Mykel hype train. He’s so damn stiff looking. Always somehow standing upright

Mel Kiper and Field Yates did a mock today and had Walker going 7 to the Jets

I really think Walker and Carter are both gone by 8

If Kiper says he will go at 7 there's a really good possibility he will be there at 8

Some might say another CB?  But definitely Will Johnson in that scenario.  That guy is an amazing football player.

So Carter will be 100% off the board come pick 8. He very well could go before Hunter

I think Graham and Walker are both very likely gone now as well

Would love to add Tyler Warren but people will flip if we take him at 8. I feel like he’s going to be a good dependable TE for a long time though

My prediction. No trades.

1. Titans - Cam Ward. The Will Levis experiment is over.

2. Browns - Travis Hunter. Having been burned by a talented qb with too much drama recently they punt and take the BPA.

3. Giants - Shedeur Sanders. Speaking of drama.  Sorry Sanders and Brian Daboll will be hilarious if it goes bad. If it goes well Sanders will be a huge star in NY.

4. Patriots - TMac. It seems the pats have been missing a playmaking WR forever.

5. Jaguars - Will Johnson. Passing on edge or DT here is tricky but Johnson is the best pure corner in this draft. Safe pick if medical is clear.

6. Raiders - Mason Graham. Miss out on QB but add some talent to the dline. Him and Mad Max will be fun and productive.

7. Jets -  Abdul Carter or top OT.  It's either pass rush or pass protection. The ranking of oline is so fluid at this point in the process. Campbell and Banks are current favorites but I'm gonna throw Cameron Williams in as my top Tackle. People are gonna be watching Banks Jr film and notice him too.

8. PANTHERS - Walker, Mykel, or Shevon Revel Jr. Lots of options.  Walker is my favorite.  Mykel has a high ceiling and looks the part. But Revel JR is a darkhorse favorite of mine.  He has that dog in him. Competitive and aggressive corner.

BONUS PiCKS.  It gets a bit dicey here.

9. Taints - Kelvin Banks Jr or Will Campbell at OL. Also if we pass on either Walker or Mykel they are in play. They are rebuilding so, much like us just about everything is in play.

10. Bears - Have to go OT almost. Caleb Williams has been chosen. He has also been chosen by the rest of the league to be a tackling dummy. If a scenario where both Banks and Campbell are gone this is my spot to put Cameron Williams.

11. 49ers - Ashton Jeanty. Niners like to run the ball. Jeanty is this years Robinson or Gibbs. He could even go in top 10 to Raiders or Patriots.

Done.  For now. It's playoffs and mock draft season.

I’m beginning to think it’s more likely Mason Graham is there at 8 than Jalon Walker is

We really need both QB’s to go top 7 (I’m not sure they do)

I hope McMillan goes top 7 (again not so sure he does)

If Ward, Carter, Hunter, Johnson, Graham, Walker and say Pearce go top 7. Then where do we go? Starks, McMillan, Warren or Burden?

  • 2 weeks later...

I realize that it has been about 2 weeks since the last post; these things evolve.  I n April we will laugh at our January comments.

OK, I obtained some intelligence watching ESPN, I think.  Mina said (and I was not paying attention to the reasons they were talking about this because a squirrel ran by the window) that she does not think Tennessee is interested in taking a QB at #1.  To me, that means it will be Hunter.  Then Dan (i think) chimed in that the Browns may not take a QB at #2.  Oh my!!  I would guess they would trade back, but with Watson being out in 2025, what are they going to do?  I understand that they might move back, pick up an OT, and then pick someone like local hero Will Howard in the early second round.  Lotta tea leaf reading there, but the point is, the teams at the top may not be in love with Ward and Sanders....

    • Oddly feeling really good about tonight. fug the heat
    • Here are my takeaways from the conference (IMO): - Is Dan against taking a WR 3 years in a row? No. Would that be his preference? Also, no. Not by a long shot.  - I think draft gurus are wrong. Tight end is not an early priority. They like the guys in the building enough to see them develop, but a later round guy is being looked at (just seemed like he was able to label a couple of guys "talented", but stopped short of suggesting the class is good at the top. Seemed quick to talk about the depth of the class) - If we are taking a DL, it will be in the top 2 rounds. They fall off a cliff at some point soon after. - They are targeting guys in each round. I think we are more likely to move up than down in this draft to prevent missing out on a guy. He doesn't want to give up a lot though, man loves his draft picks. - DBs are a priority. We want to come away with a safety and a nickel. Maybe even a safety that can play nickel. Thieneman sounds more and more like a real possibility, if he is there. We are taking a safety in the first 2 rounds, if I had to put money on it. - Age matters more for 1st round picks, probably (Mesidor), but not for after that (Stukes). - They have a guy or two that they want in the 1st round, but crazy things DO happen in the draft, and they may shift gears and take a different guy if someone falls that they didn't expect to be there.  - Character matters. A LOT. If a guy has character concerns of any kind, you can be pretty confident they aren't on our board. They may bring in a guy or two for a visit to gauge the validity/severity of the concern though.
