Most draft analysis is beyond meaningless. The Edwards pick does seem a bit of a stretch to me, but then again I have not been offered an NFL personnel position. If Clausen turns out to be our franchise QB, then that pick alone makes it an incredible draft. Time will tell.

I thought the Panthers were off the hook for some of the Delhommey money because he signed with someone else.

No. Delhomme will pocket something close to $20M this year with the Panthers paying $12M of it.

BINGO!!! if clausen is "THE GUY" that alone will impact this franchise for the next 10 years or so and if edwards at the very least turns into a special team star and we get contibutions from hardy, lafell and maybe a couple other players this could turn out being one of the best drafts the panthers have had

I didn't like giving up that future 2nd round pick for Edwards either, but Jake's contract has nothing to do with whether the Panthers drafted well this year or not.

I agree that these draft grades mean absolutely nothing though. We will all know how good or bad it was 3 years from now.

So much of what he said is exactly opposite of the truth. We didn't have a bad quarterback situation here. We could have picked a myriad of veterans and backups instead of picking Clausen. We chose to pass on them and make a spirited bid to move up and get Clausen who instead fell to us instead. Moore is going to be a good starter. By taking Clausen we actually may have put ourselves more in a pickle since we are unlikely to have a veteran backup if Moore gets hurt or struggles.

As for Jake we could have kept him but let him go to avoid locker room issues. Was it one of the worse moves ever for the Panthers? Not even close. Why is everyone so worried about spending or wasting Richardson's money? There is no cap this year and we are likely 20 million under the 2009 cap so far this year with only around 5 long-term contracts at this point.

Most of this draft was for players who will help the future not save Fox's job. Instead of worrying about this year you could argue the opposite, we did too much for the future and not enough to help us in 2010.

I believe this roster for example, players like Brown, Johnson, and these rookies, will surprise us this season.

The only person I want added to this team that the FO may not go after is John Henderson. I love this draft and this off-season. If the FO can re-sign Brayton, I am sure they can sign Henderson too.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
