Panthers.com: Moore takes on lead(ership) role

Well, according to Moore's position coach, this business about Moore having a poor work ethic was BS last year too. Why should I not believe him?

Have you ever heard Fox or any of the assistant coaches throw anyone under the bus? No that isn't their style. If there were problems, you wouldn't hear it from the coach or the staff. It was discussed by players and media types who had no reason to lie or cover it up.

It didn't take Clausen breathing down his neck to step up. Off-season conditioning program started March 15th. Draft was late April.

I am sure it started when he was named the starter and Jake was let go. Clausen coming just gave him that much more incentive to work as hard as he can.

Do you have a link and/or the name of the Panther who, supposedly, said that Matt Moore had a poor work ethic?

I am going to take Fox and Hurney for their word (and, they have never really given anybody reason not to). The one who competes the best and actually wins the starting job will be the starter.

So many of you have your heads up your, err...in the clouds. It is rational to think that Moore is going to be the starter because of his experience with the organization, but there are no guarantees. When asked about who will be under center in 2010, Fox said "Those guys answer those questions by competing. We haven't had practice yet."

Competition will rule the day, and it should. I am not going to count Matt in, or Clausen out---love or hate on either one of them---before I see what they both are bringing to the table during pre-season, and what I can glean from the reports of the FO about camp. I especailly am not going to refer to what looks like our future franchise QB in derogatory terms. We are suppose to be a knowledgeable and football savvy fanbase. I know that some of us are, but some others would just as soon turn the Huddle into football fanbase fodder.

Dan Morgan on this site said that Moore didn't know the playbook or work hard in practice.

I love Dan but he is also the guy that said we should have signed vick.

I might trust dan when it comes to talking about the defense...but it doesnt seem like he knows too much about the QB position.

Brad Hoover and Jordan Gross said just the opposite.

The more reps he got last year, the better he got (no shock there). Hope that continues.

So it comes down to who you want to believe. An ex-player who mau oy may not have an axe to grind or two players who frankly would be in trouble if they spoke out about a teammate (unless you are Steve Smith). In either case it appears to be water under the bridge and ancient history since he is apparently acting like a leader and showing up everyday from all accounts. No matter which side you beleive, I think we can all get behind Moore now just like the coaches have.

Exactly. Dan isn't in the locker room or on the field anymore and has made some pretty stupid statements based on nothing but sitting out on the side. I wouldn't put really anything into what he has to say to be honest. Hell, he wasn't even playing when Moore was added to the team he was on IR and then left. He saw not even an off season of Moore on the team in 07. But seems people here get on their knees for Morgan and believe whatever he tells them.

I would expect he can find out anything he wants. He is tight with a number of players like Beason for example. Where there is smoke sometimes there is fire. But as I said earlier. it is really a moot point as it is ancient history. As to who to believe even ex-players have a lot more credibility than posters on here. Seems that doesn't keep all of us from expressing our opinions freely. At least he has some credibility.

He has some credibility, I like reading what he has to say but some people can't remember it's still just an opinion. credibility to me doesn't come from his history as much as it comes from what he says and does here in present time, since he is making statements about the present time and not 'history'. It has been years since he has been with the panthers, and what he has been saying about the team now comes off as pretty inaccurate.
