There's a Renaissance out there. Very nice. Or the Embassy Suites is nearby. DO NOT STAY at the Sheraton at i_85. Or anywhere near that.

See if you can stay at ALoft downtown. Good rates, brand new hotel that was supposed to be condos.

Anything on Wilkinson Blvd. should do it. Especially those single story motels. I think they even have the vibrating beds

I've never been to CLT (I hope to remedy that this season) but I think it would be helpful if the kind folks here would spell out specifically what hotels to avoid because of hookers and drug dealers.

Maybe some links to google maps and any discount coupons for said hookers and drug dealers.

At least that would help me.....

stay at the uptown cabaret...great "hotel".

There is a nice, pretty new hotel right off 485 on Johnston road, towards Charlotte and near the red robin. There is also another nice one, a bit older, the other direction in Ballantyne, which is huge and you can't miss getting on Johnston from 485 away from the city.

Those are probably a little more expensive but some of the worst poo on earth happens at cheap motels/hotels.
