Need the team to just fall a part down the stretch so heads roll.

Honestly, if this is what we need to clean house and make changes with the coaching staff, I allow it. No offense to Rod, but his system doesn't win playoff series + his assistants are all useless.

Canes at least got something out of Rantanen. Better than keeping him on only to lose him for nothing in free agency.

Should never have signed him without a contract and making sure he was a good fit.

I don’t know what else has to happen. The team is stuck in playoff purgatory. With a roster that works hard but lacks talent. That’ll only take you so far.

For the god awful return they should have just kept him.

He's not a rental either no excuses to getting such a p*ss return

Falling apart isn’t going to do anything either. This was always going to be an off year waiting on next years extra cap space plus all the young players that should be ready.

now they go into the offseason with 4 extra picks plus an extra young player with 40m in cap space.

True. It sucks but keep grinding and play hard. Find out what you have to build with for this big offseason

Since we basically punted on the season by not making another move, call up Nadeau. And fug it, try Stankoven at center, idgaf.

Jarvis - Aho - Nadeau

Hall - Stankoven - Blake

Martinook - Staal - Svechnikov

Robinson - Kotkaniemi - Roslovic

All I know is they BETTER NOT BURN A NIKISHIN ELC YEAR FOR THIS BULLSH*T ROSTER

That cap space doesn't mean jack squat people need to let the Marner pipe dream go, high end talent wants nothing to do with RBA

Wasn’t talking about Marner.

40m is a lot of space to fill out a team that’s already got its core signed long term.

Well, the whole Necas and Rantanen fiasco was a massive massive blunder by Tulsky. That said, it's one that this team can easily survive and forget about soon enough. But hopefully it's a wakeup call for the rookie GM and he actually learns a lot from it. Hopefully Stankoven proves to be decent but man just such an underwhelming return for giving away Necas. Rantanen is a bitch but whatever I don't blame him, he didn't owe us anything or ask to be traded here. Our fault for trading for a pending UFA without having contract discussions with him before the trade.

We did talk to his camp prior to him being moved and offered what he asked for. His agent then played hardball because Mikko didn’t like it here off the ice. 🤷‍♂️

If the NHL was made up of 50 somethings from NYC that enjoy the night life of Cary, NC then we’d have the best team in the league.

NFL players have got it through their heads that you don’t have to live where you play, for some reason NHL players haven’t figured that out.

Congrats to Rantanen on fumbling a $13.25M/8 year deal from Carolina. And yes I know Texas has no state tax.

    • lol well that kinda ended up working out in the end, even though I still don't have my jersey yet. Was supposed to ship by tomorrow this time, but just got another email saying it was delayed another 3 weeks and because it's been delayed so long, I had to tell them to keep the order or cancel it, but gave me a 25% off my next order as an apology. Well, my original fear came true and they are now selling the FUSE version (but still not the Blue unfortunately) before the one I ordered was ever shipped. But that's awesome, because I was able to use that coupon to order the FUSE instead and then cancelled the original order.  So I got the jersey I wanted for only $6.30 more than the crappier version costs, and it also says it will be shipped immediately and get here early next week, or 2 weeks before the other was now supposed to be shipped out.
    • I've watched this and think we are well underway.  Believe it or not, Bryce is a big part of this.  The way he bounced back with such grace.  And we've got a lot of young players who want to make their mark, Dave is giving them an opportunity.  I loved our draft.  I like the number of guys we brought in, and they will help build the culture we want under Dave.  We're getting closer, and I think we'll see more wins this year than most of the board. The right culture breeds winning, and winning builds the right culture.  Imho, it's coming.
    • As others have said it's both. One creates the other. But it also takes time sometimes years. And there have been teams lately with new car smell coaching staffs that looked like they were putting it together quickly but things came crashing back down to Earth. Sustainability is the key. For that to happen the meddling of our owners has to stop and they cannot be tempted to return to their ways over any bump in the road either.
