lest ye forget -- half of those starters got cut

and davis is injured, beason is moving to weakside, connor is starting at middle linebacker... our entire defensive line is completely new minus brayton. and since moose retired, there's no proven wide receiver for Moore to go to when Smith is tripple covered. with fingers crossed, let's hope DJ can really step it up. but we'll see...

Damn.

The Don is pretty quick to point out these changes as negative. I agree that win streaks from season to season are ridiculous, especially under the circumstances of NO playing scrubs and us not even going to the post season.

However, I think these changes were largely necessary and are for the most part positive and at the very least intriguing. This will be the most interesting season since 2003 IMO.

What in the hell about the last several season's starters and potential would instill the slightest bit of confidence anyway?

yeah, davis played a HUGE role in that win streak didn't he? i wonder how they will recover from losing him.

oh yeah, brown and johnson sat on the bench for the whole game every game. how many proven receivers did moore have to go to when smitty broke his arm?

he will also have both RBs back in top health. he will have smith back. he will have more targets. he will have his Oline back. that defense, though with a bunch of new parts, will have the luxury of learning their roles and some familiarity of meeks not-so-new system. oh...and special teams...not going to suck as much. all the makings for good field position no matter which side of the ball takes the field.

lots of reasons to feel good about the season but go ahead....focus on that negative. lots of stuff to build on and that is the big thing for this year.

    • It's also worth noting that Cam himself said that he felt safer when running vs. sitting in the pocket because he could see the contact coming and could better prepare for it. A QB running the ball doesn't have to be a sledgehammer. He just has to be effective.
    • That Falcons game is about as good as it gets. Especially on the road. I know the Falcons defense was bad but he was cooking with Coker, an undrafted rookie get the bulk of the receptions. If your QB has 5 TDs and 0 turnovers he is playing like a top QB, yardage be damned. The big question for me is how consistently can be play the whole season?  I don’t expect a game like that every week, but I also don’t want to see any performances like the pre benching or that Cowboys game (which was bad post benching). Bryce’s best shot at being the guy is becoming a mini-Burrow who is about as consistent as you can get at the QB position.  The good news is this QB class should be a fun one. So hopefully Bryce becomes the guy, if not it’s a nice class to let DC pick his QB and they should come into a great situation with a good OL, RB, young talented WRs etc…
    • Bryce Young is far less risky with his body when he runs than Richardson and doesn’t take many unnecessary big hits. Was much more worried about injury when he had that abysmal OL his rookie season than I ever would be when he runs/scrambles. 500/10 seems like a fairly reasonable prediction considering he had 250/6 in 12 starts last season. Of course literally anybody CAN get hurt, it’s just that we were assured by many huddlers that it was a sure thing with Bryce Young that he wouldn’t make it to this point in his career without significant injuries.
