(By Scott Fowler, [email protected]) It is August, which means NFL predictions are flying. Nobody knows anything for sure - it's much like those scientists who predict hurricanes six months in advance - but it's always fascinating to hear the educated guesses about the Carolina Panthers.p/I had an interesting conversation recently with Jon Gruden, the former Tampa Bay coach and current game analyst for ESPN.

the prediction that wasn't-- more of the same. only thing he said worth quoting--

"I have so much respect for John Fox," Gruden said. "He's one of the top coaches in football. He's the winningest coach in Panther history. His players love him. What he did late last season - that says a lot. I have no idea what he'll be doing in 2011. But I'll tell you this - if the Panthers lose John Fox? Hey, I wish them luck. Because they'll need it."

...and I like Captain Munnerlyn at the nickel. He's going to be a fine player."
"On offense," Gruden continued, "Panther fans may not realize how good they have it. I have never seen a one-two running back combination like DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. And I mean never."

Grudez knows what's up.

I agree that the defense is the shakiest part of the team.

Our problems at WR can be diminished, but the D will be a problem. I see us looking like the Titans last year-a classically good defensive team with a suddenly toothless defense. Hopefully the line surprises me and the LB's gel.
