Peppers impressing in bears camp

NFL.com story on training camps...

Peppers has been the star of training camp and his presence has raised the level of his defensive teammates. The effort has quickly allowed him to become one of the defensive leaders despite a quiet demeanor. In speaking to several coaches about Peppers' impact, they were effusive in their praise for his professionalism, energy and work ethic. Peppers has been so impressive, he will likely be named one of the team captains.

i think those expecting pep to have a 3-4 sack season are sadly mistaken. i wouldn't be surprised to see him have a career year.

Peppers a team captain.... lol

Pepp has always looked good in camp. He looks good just until a bit of adversity hits him.

My thoughts exactly Zod.

He was called out by Richardson one season here to step-up and take a leadership role. And what did he do......he wilted like a little bitch. He could not handle the pressure or expectations.

They better hope he comes out and has an All-Pro year. If he puts forth the inconsistent effert that he did here, the Chicago fans and media will crucify him.

Peppers will have a good year if the Bears have a good year. If the Bears find themselves to be 3-5 by the bi-week, Peppers' effort will probably drop dramatically. Let's see how he handles the constant double teams.

I still think Peppers will have a good year just because of the fact that it is his first year on a new contract, but I don't think he will match his best year as a Panther.

i do not believe it was necessary for richardson to do that. not all players are born to be vocal leaders, but rather lead by example. it is not imperative for a DE to the vocal leader of you defense like it is for a QB is on offense. i do not think it is fair to crucify him for that, it is not the kind of person he is.

now in chicago he has people like urlacher and tommie and chris harris to take that pressure off him. he was not born in chicago and play football his whole life in chicago, so the expectations for him to be a vocal leader will not be as important. he will go out there and lead by example and will bet my forum rights to post on this board that it will be his best year ever.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
