i don't hate mick mixon. he learned from one of the greats and if he had a better voice he would be perfect. it's also too bad he looks like the scarecrow from wizard of oz.

He learned from Gene Overby?

Surely you don't mean his broadcast partner from Chapel Hill. That guy has one of the most annoying voices in sports.

woody durham? surely your distaste for him has nothing to do with your username being related to wake forest? i'm about as far from a UNC fan as you can get but i can appreciate a quality announcer, and woody durham most certainly is that.

I was too young back then to remember the other guy. We moved before Mixon came in, and I never saw or heard a Carolina game (Except for the SB) since I was in AZ and I hate the Cards. I moved back two years ago, so Mixon is all I've ever known as far as Panthers announcers go.

Anyone can be an announcer (Mixon), it takes a great voice and personality to become a legend on the mic. Mick has neither.

Ok, but how many teams get a legend as an announcer? Just like not everyone can have an elite QB, but you don't need an elite QB to win.

Nope, being a Wake fan has nothing to do with it. I like Duke's announcers better than UNC and I hold both schools in equally low regard. To me, Woody's voice sounds like chalk on a Chalkboard.
