Brayton, Johnson, Hardy, Brown.... Good lord...

I have always called Johnson a beast. What he is doing now is no surprise to me. In fact, I started a thread saying I didn't agree with resigning Brayton because it delays the development of Brown. Right now I'm ok with it because I haven't seen Hilee Taylor show up.

Our DE's look as if they can make us forget about the former Panther DE end that is presently playing for the Bears.

Let's see,what was his name? Oh yes,Julius Peppers. :)

We're calling him "Lil' Hardy" now.

It is hard to believe, guys like Johnson who did nothing for years is suddenly playing like a different person out there.

Like several others in this thread, I've thought that Johnson has shown flashes in his limited playing time. Before the preseason, I would have thought that he would lead the team in sacks this year. With the way Brown and Hardy are playing, I don't know if I still believe that.

But who cares who leads the team in sacks? It's not about one guy (as it used to be), it's about four really good guys playing at a high level. And I think we'll have that.

We do have a problem though...how in the world are they gonna pick the two starting DT's? There seems to be no difference, no matter what combination they use.

Seriously though, that D-line looks pretty good so far, but I'm not getting too excited until they do it in real games. I am optimistic though.

I seem to remember a thread of "bold yet believable" predictions for this year, I called for the Panthers to lead the league in sacks but have no one player in the top five for the individual rankings.

The way they're playing, though, we may damn well have all five of those top five slots locked up....and lead the league in TFL just for the f**k of it.

Dont sleep on our DTs ether. They are a lot of the reason we are getting sacks. The QB cant just simply step up in the pocket anymore. If we can cause this much pressure with 4 guys watch out. NO and ATL are going to have there hands full with the pass happy attack they like to run. I def believe in Meeks now and its not a coincidence that our team is better with him.

Not just the DE's, but our crew of No Name DT's have done a great job against the pass and the rush. We have flat out shut down three very good rushing teams in Baltimore, NY, and Tenn.

Our defense has the potential to be like the Tampa 2 defenses that the Bucs used to dominate with.

Conner has turned out to be a very good MLB....and Beason is all over the field at WLB.

    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
    • First goal hmmm im going with Verhague
