All aboard the Dan Connor express.....

Connor was the all time leading tackler at Penn State. Of course he's going to have hype. Anderson has been a backup most of his career, mostly at weakside. Of course there was some concern with him moving to strong side. I know I was a little concerned even though I thought he could get the job done. Now, he's erased all concern.
yep. the guy that is considered to be the best LB of all time at a school known for being the best at producing LBs is on our team and to just have him as a backup is a big deal in itself.

having him start at Mike while beason is having to fill in for davis is not a bad thing. connor would be starting in more than half the teams in the league.

anderson...career backup.

I don't see why there's no hype for James Anderson he was awesome at VT. Also even when Davis was healthy people were drooling over Connor. What else could it be? A team with Davis and Beason at LB and this guy is like the great white hype?

I'd like to be nice in this response, but your ignorance is the most offensive thing this panthers team has seen all preseason!

You brought out the race card. Why? I don't wish to know why.

Now you bring up james anderson. What does that have to do with you pulling the race card?

Maybe if you knew anything about college football, you would already know Penn State has been a linebacker factory. Much like the U in miami.

Now I could continue to go on, but I'm not going to waste anymore time trying to educate the ignorant.

been big on him since we drafted him. Did not think he would get his chance here though with the emergence of Beason, I figured he would be let go and go to be at least an average MLB somewhere in the league.

Glad I was wrong.

now the question is if Beason has a Derrick Brooks kind of season at WLB and Connor has a good/great year at MLB, do we keep it the way it is and forego paying Davis big money?

This just isn't true. Anderson outplayed Diggs last year and has done nothing but improve since he's been with us. Everyone is talking about how great Connor has looked in the preseason but Anderson has been every bit as impressive. I'm not sure why he's so easily overlooked but there's no question that he's doing a good job.

Well, I definitely think the Panthers should take care of Beason's contract. He's going to demand a top MLB contract, regardless where he is playing. Davis, may end up remaining here, on a smaller contract, but the priority still has to be Beason.

Connor will be a much easier contract to deal with. That being said, it's all speculation at this point. Lets see how the season plays out. I believe Connor will be a good LB for us, but lets also remember he's only playing MLB for us in the base defense. Prolly won't even play 50% of the defensive snaps.

And as far as Anderson, he did come into the league with expectations. In fact, he was expected to replace Witherspoon. He failed to develop as quickly as the Panthers and us fans would have liked.

Last season, he begun to show the he does have the talent.

He just didn't come out of college with the pedigree that Connor did.

    • How we weren't willing to roll the dice on Wilson but were on Brooks remains a mystery.

    • Wide Receiver: Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers – 85.3 One of the more shocking developments of the 2025 NFL season has been the Carolina Panthers’ ascension to the top of the NFC South, which they achieved with Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers. Perhaps nobody has made a bigger difference than former eighth overall pick Tetairoa McMillan, who continued to be a steady presence in the Panthers’ offense. McMillan caught six passes for 73 yards and a touchdown in the win Tight End: Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers – 91.1 Evans only saw the field for 16 snaps, but he was efficient in his limited playing time. He caught all three of his targets for 23 yards on just six receiving snaps while also grading well in pass protection (72.2 grade) and as a run-blocker (68.4) Edge Defender: Nic Scourton, Carolina Panthers – 77.9 The former second-rounder out of Texas A&M has been a force along the Panthers’ defensive line, and he was a key contributor in Carolina’s huge win over the Buccaneers. Scourton recorded two stops as a run-defender and added another while in coverage. Scourton also tallied his sixth sack of the year while contributing another pressure to the mix Safety: Lathan Ransom, Carolina Panthers – 75.7 Another Carolina Panther on this week’s list, Ransom has typically been stronger in run defense — he carries an 85.2 grade in that field on the season. But Sunday against the Buccaneers was his best day in coverage. Ransom intercepted his only target, which wound up being the game-winner that put the Panthers in the driver’s seat in the NFC South
