That is for sure!

Honestly, I'd love to go on a trip by myself for about a week and do pretty much nothing. :drool5:

I've got a trip for you that is right in your backyard and costs less than a tank of gas...10 hits of acid.

Wouldn't be a week though, but you would probably be changed enough to still be on vacation.

Baltimore Harbor is within 7 hours and lots to do there. One of my favorite places to go for a long weekend.

National Aquarium

Fort McHenry

Great shopping along the harbor

Science Center

Maritime Museum

Ships to tour

Children's Museum.

Etc...

Baltimore is one of those cities where you can walk two blocks in the wrong direction and find yourself somewhere you never wanted to be.

And get shot.

Have you ever been to a place called Vaccaros (sp?) in Baltimore?

I rented this for my g/f (now wife) and I a year and a half ago and had a blast. It's near App State, theres a lot of stuff up in that area to do, but we mostly enjoyed the hot tub, cooking steaks, and relaxing there. It's a pretty short and scenic drive as well.

Wow that's really nice. I bet you guys did have a blast!

I would do that cause it looks beautiful but my parents have a cabin in VA mountains so I can't justify spending money on something similar even though I get bored with staying in the same cabin everytime.

I think I'm wanting something with cleaning service and a restaurant on site. I need a vacation from cleaning and cooking.

Anyone gone to Blowing Rock and having any lodging tips or must do activities? I've been searching for stuff online and am just tired of researching stuff.

I love Blowing Rock, would live there if I could...

The wife and I have stayed at the Green Park Inn, right near 'The' Blowing Rock a few years back and liked it... it's old and more like a B&B.

    • Morgan, Mills, Keuchley, Beason--all within the first 25 years of the team's existence--we have been spoiled by great MLB play.
    • Some people just want to get the attention of a celebrity and feel zero empathy for that player's feelings or personal space.  My dad was lifelong friends with some big names in football (Roman Gabriel, Dan Reeves) and baseball (Pete Rose and Tommy Helms of the Reds) and I learned very young that they are people doing a job and really want to be treated like everyone else.  So when I see a celebrity in public who is flying under the radar, I try not to bring attention to myself or them--I might wave if we make eye contact but that is about it.  Flashback In Washington DC (Georgetown) I was eating at a restaurant with my then fiance (she dumped me later--still hurts) and at the end of the dinner, I whispered to her, "Do not look back until we are getting up to leave, but do you know who has been sitting behind you for about 15 minutes?"  She said, "No.  Who?"  I stood to leave, so she turned around while picking up her purse, saw him, and turned back around to look at me with a shocked facial expression.  It was Billy Crystal.  I put my finger over my lips to keep her quiet, but she turned toward him and said, "You look Marvelous!! (one of his famous lines) and proceeded to tell him that her favorite movie is The Princess Bride, a film Crystal had a small part in as Miracle Max.  Grabbing her upper arms from behind, I looked at Crystal sympathetically and he cracked a faint grin--and I gently pulled her toward the exit.  She was mad at me for not telling her sooner and said that I embarrassed her by pulling her away.  I told her "You had already embarrassed yourself.  I was just doing some damage control."  I knew that she had exposed him, and how much he was valuing his anonymity until she sounded the trumpets.
    • I remember that game, vividly. I dare argue 2003 was the most talent stacked team our franchise has ever seen. HOF level talent: Dan, Peppers, Jenkins, Steve. Undeniable. Think about it. He had the chance to be the MVP of the Cinderella team that took down the goat in his prime.   I don’t want to derail the original topic, but some fans just are too young to appreciate the caliber player Dan was.  I hope some of the younger fans have watched some his game tape.  If there is anyone who can spot a baller from a mile away, it’s Dan.  There’s no questioning what this franchise means to him
