Fox Says: Moore Still the Starter

1 really bad game in 9 starts.....it happens. Moore has done too much here for Clausen to come in if he is healthy.

It wasn't a really bad game for Moore, It was a god Awful game. However it was a god awful game by the Oline as well, I'm not Payton Manning would've looked good with that line in front of him.

You DON'T bench your starter after one game....plain and simple.

Agreed, however Moore's Leash should have just gotten a heck of a lot shorter after that performance. Even with the Oline play there was no reason for a bunch of the bad throws he made.

I however have a feeling that if Moore can't go and Clausen gets the start, it might be the last you see of Moore starting.

I still believe Matt Moore can fix his mistakes and play well for us but I hope Fox doesn't rush him through this concussion. If he does play than Davidson needs to limit him next week against Tampa bay. We don't have 2 elite backs on our team so that our new starting Qb can get knocked around early. Part of me even thinks if Jimmy did get the nod to start, Davidson might have him throw alot as well.

You are probably right. Last season didn't Buffalo have a weak run D and we threw like 45 times that game?

I'm not saying anything permanent, just the best time to test the waters with Clausen...

Let me be a dreamer like you Moore fans and pretend we do make the playoffs with Moore at the helm, then he gets injured in the 2nd half, just for that game tho. Would'nt you feel better knowing Clausen does have some real game experience with the starters?

Haha... that's right, around here we wait till game 12 :)

(sorry, couldn't resist... I don't think Clausen should start either... and that's more because I think the problem is our O-Line, not our QB, even though Matt had a piss poor showing.)

Understand your sarcasm...I am reeling this morning as well.

I believe Moore should be given 3 or 4 games....if he is not delivering, you make the switch.

Given that we have our bye week after the first 5 games, that would be a likely spot to make a change if we are struggling.

If the change is not permanent, you don't make the move. Flip flopping between two QB's has never worked. Ask the Browns how that dance goes.

Don't give me Philly as an example....McNabb is a veteran QB who needed a kick in the pants.

If you are making the change at QB, you make the change.

Now, if Moore is not 100% because of the concussion, I would definitely sart Clausen.

I think in his heart Davidson probably despises the Fox philosophy about running first. he probably dreams so much about having his name attached to an elite Qb that he is trying to force one out of the ones we have every few games.

Question for the Clausen bandwagoneers:

What happens when Clausen looks like the rookie he is, throws some picks, takes some sacks and finishes a game with a 40% completion rate and the Panthers lose... what's the next step? Will we start seeing Tony Pike threads?

No, that would be silly. Moore/Clausen are both head and shoulders above pike.

So the correct answer would be to put a rested moore back in

If he actually does that I'll be the first to say that we should go back to Moore.

But I think it's a forgone conclusion to many people that he will, and I don't see how it's some sort of absolute truth that he HAS to suck ass because he's a rookie.

He won't play like Brees, but I think he could be better than people expect he will.

Really bad doesnt even begin to describe what happened with Matt yesterday.

Yes the playcalling was off at times, we pretty much quit running the ball and the OLine didn't do a whole lot to protect him but the thing is all 3 of Moores picks are on him. He had time to throw the ball away or at least check down to someone underneath the coverage but he didn't, and time after time he lobbed the ball into tight coverage. A QB can't even get away with doing that in the ACC(AthleticallyChallengedConference) in college, much less the frikkin NFL. I understand the concept of loyalty and everything but cmon guys Moore is not going to lead us to the playoffs anytime soon. Not saying Clausen will anytime soon either, but I'd much rather take my chances building my team around a QB like Jimmy Clausen than building it around a career backup, starter by default, 5 game wonder from last season type QB, like Matt Moore. Apparently the "real" Matt Moore still lives in 2009.

Question for you. If he throws 2-3 touchdowns and we win the game will you say Moore could have done better?
