Otah worth the 27th-29th Pick in 2009 Draft???

As of right now, no.

Hear me out. I really like Otah and am very glad he is on this team but IMO if you are going to make a trade like this it should be for a LT. Otah just doesn't seem to have the makings of a LT.

If Gross ends up leaving in the offseason then it makes this trade even more questionable.

Its not that I question the trade or that I question the player, its the combination of the two in addition to the additional picks that went along with the trade. I think the team could have found a RT with the 27-29 picks in the 2009 draft that would be very comparable with Otah and they wouldn't had to have given up the extra draft picks.

This move was more about saving Fox and Hurney's jobs than it was about building for the future.

Actually, the pass blocking was very good for the most part. In fact, the line set a new franchise record for the lowest number of sacks allowed (20).

I don't know if I agree that Otah is our best lineman but he does have the most potential of the bunch. I would say that Wharton was actually our best lineman this past season because he excelled in both pass and run blocking. Gross was exceptional as well but leading the team in false starts brings him down a notch.

Imagine that? Do you suppose that could have something to do with our running the ball a lot? I think you may be overrating our o-lines pass blocking ability. But I hope you're right.

Thanks for the inputs.

I personally think that Otah was worth the trade. The overhaul of the O-Line and bringing in Stewart to tandem with DeWill really put us on the right track to Run the ball. I agree with the injury arguments, both sides. I do think that he could play with a little bit more pain and also agree that the money spent you have to protect that investment as well.

If we somehow keep Gross this OL will return intact and be awesome.

Go Panthers
