Please keep things in perspective IF Jimmy does light it up next week.

He won't light it up. He will have had a few days of practice with the starters. Bradford and Sanchez have had months with thier starters as rooks by this point and neither one looks particularly great.

B-b-b-but Clausen is the Chosen One!

I don't think we'll win but I think Clausen will have a solid game. I think he'll have at least 1 INT and hopefully at least a TD.

And what happens when he looks and plays the part of the rookie that he is? What happens when he sees actual game speed starters and gets crushed a couple times?

Is everyone gonna start screaming for Moore again? I mean, WTF, people have been clamoring for Clausen, now you got him and it seems the huge, overwhelming assumption here is that he's the next great white hope of Charlotte. The odds are not in his favor and I'm just wondering how long it takes before the Charlotte fickle- oops, I mean faithful- discover they've once again pinned their hopes against the odds.

Difference is Clausen is a rookie whom, in my humble opinion, is playing as good as if not better than the Panthers version of a Vet! If we are going to hang up the season, which after losing to the YUCS we may as well, why not get our young, promissing, rookie some much needed game exp and see what he has?

Please explain to me how keeping him on the bench at this point is going to do us any good?

He's actually had plenty of reps with the ones throughout training camp and practice after the season started. That's usually what you do with backups. They're always the backup plan, and them not having any reps with the ones would just be dumb.

I personally think he's gonna get Steve Smith his first 100yard game of the season though. They've got a lot of chemistry it seems. Every photo I see of Clausen, Smith's right next to him almost every time. And one of the differences between Clausen and Moore is that Clausen knows how to check it down better than Moore.

They have the best CB tandem in the league and our gameplan will likely be to pound the rock. 12/21 188 yards 1 td 1 int 0 fumbles.

You think if he had those stats everyone on this board wouldn't consider that "lighting it up?" Thats percisely what i mean in this thread. If he has those stats, yes its awesome, but don't go thinking he is the next coming of Jesus Christ to the Carolina's.

    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
    • Maybe faked was too strong of a word.  "Milked" may be the better way to call it.
