Charles Godfrey Part 2.

He looked immensely better out there today. Was constantly up making hits and had a great return on the INT. He played like a Strong Safety should. I am not saying Godfrey is perfect or even great, but if there can be a thread about bashing him, then I'm going to start one when he shows improvement. Oh and Pugh looked awful out there on that pass interference that possibly gave them a touchdown. So stop calling for him to start.

Godfrey did look good out there today, sometimes players aren't gonna bring their A game. Carolina fans have got to stop the kneejerk reaction of calling for a players head after one game.
I don't think it's kneejerk in this case, it's just that he's the most erratic player on the team.

boy I remember those Godfrey sucks threads. worst player on the field? I won't bump them, not that important. But ive been on his bandwagon since the beginning. he won't have great games every week, but hes a good player, and he's still young

Godfrey earned those threads b/c of his CONSISTANTLY horrible play. One game here or there doesn't change anything. Bumping those threads and then saying look at what he did today wouldn't change anything.

In those threads bashing him, it has always been said that when he can come up to the line and make hits before guys get into the open field he does well. It is coverage assignments and when guys get into the open field where he struggles. He isn't a good player.....not yet.

also, on this pick today, Owens was open with a good throw. Line pressure causing Palmer to make a poor underthrown ball gets the assist. A great coverage pick is what Leon Hall did on Smitty....Godfrey cashed in on an error. That is HUGE and he was the only Carolina player who did that today...if other players had cashed in on chances like Godfrey did we might could have won. Godfrey had a pretty good day. A good day after two horrfic days doesn't mean much in the grand scheme.

WHAT....in the grand scheme of things in FOOTBALL YOU GO OUT and try to IMPROVE every week he dramatically improved. That means everything period because you have a little bad feeling for him because of his previous outings doesn't mean you should stay stupid quotes. If he plays at that level all year were good at SS wake up.

He has not dramatically improved. He plays well one week, then he has two clunkers, then he plays well again. . .it's been like that since he's been in the league.

It's his third year as a starter, I'm not saying that he should be a Pro Bowl player but he needs to be more consistent.

I guess it is too bad that Godfrey ever got to play at all or maybe you would give him some more love. I imagine that if he was riding the pine and never saw the field you would be his biggest supporter like with another player on this team.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.
    • Start posting in threads in the other forums instead of just creating threads. No one comes over here so you aren't starting conversations.  Get your ass up to 100 posts. It's not that hard. Don't create 100 posts. Contribute to conversations.
    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
